MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

If one compares the guidance documents HC or the gov provides for other matters vs MMPR the lack of info is quite stark. Perhaps a funding issue, or maybe purposely vague.

Thanks very much Princess of Pot!

There is a property approved for growing MM, located 1.5 hrs from Toronto. Since this is a national/international type of business, location is not dependant on the market. We can build to suit. 3000 SF up to 30,000 SF
If interested, email Freda at [email protected].

Geez, that is a pretty good answer for a direct question to HC, everyone should print that off for the files, they must be slowly figuring it out.
No doubt eh! I never got a detailed reply like that! HC is going to have to stop all this road blocking and stalling of us little guys pretty quick. Trust me.

i guess they are finally figuring it out. the copy and paste is becoming more elaborate! I myself received the same letter on average 4 times in a week in response to my one question, and it (they) are short and sweet and full of shit. I am happy for the new applicants that they are finally offering a more detailed explanation. Hopefully the trend continues.

Good luck princess :)

Hello everyone! This is my first post here after spending the last 2 days reading virtually every post in this GREAT thread. Grats to everyone even considering becoming a LP!

I am in the Okanagan Valley of BC. Have been developing this business full time for over a year and mulling it in the back of my mind for 2 decades. I have not yet applied, nor partnered with the right investor(s). I have extensive growing & business experience and a well developed business plan to become a successful Licensed Producer, creating Certified Organic medicine for a relatively small number of clients.

I have developed custom software to first manage all information for my license application process, including a simple format and (still time consuming) method of generating SOP's. I haven't generated my first SOP as yet, currently flowcharting EVERY action to be taken from plant growing, IPM, order fulfillment, and even includes an SOP on how to create and update SOP's. In operation the software will track individual plants via barcode handling inventory, sales, clients, from seed to sale as some are saying, and far beyond that. Virtually every step of regulation compliance will be completed, or monitored by the software.

Future version will interface with an extensive array of sensors including environment and alarm sensors. Using this data, software will interface (likely using Arduino) to activate climate controls, alert staff, and automate anything that can be automated.

After reading "The Secret Life of Plants" a handful of times, I plan to raise plants and create medicine in a holistic manner, in complete contrast to methods used by the "Big" guys.

Looking forward to participating in this thread, as we move forward, despite often seemingly silly regulations, hurdles and road blocks.

Hi OKLP - I'm an electronics guy and have an interest in building up something along these lines for the MM industry. We should discuss further.

Your only chance is to own the facility itself. That can set you back millions. Basically, their is MANY obstacles to leasing. First and foremost, the landlord has to get past the stigma of Marijuana. If you can pass that, then the next hurdle is that the needs to be willing to hold the spot for you indefinitely. By the time you sort out all the leasing agreement specs, then you have to begin to put together a proposal, then you have to get city approval, then you have to submit your app to Health Canada, then you have to wait for conditional approval, once all that falls together, you can safely say that you are ready to take the facility. This can take 8months to a year easily. It will be VERY hard to find a landlord that is willing to wait for you even if he is ok with renting out the space to a MMJ LP.

Soo, they plan on ratting everyone out after all, that was likely the plan all along.

I sense more constitutional challenges being filed...
They have written this to look like they will rat everyone out but they can only go after the DG's not those that grow for themselves. People who grow their own are protected by the access to information act.

They sent notices to everyone advising them of this. Just send them a note as requested and your done.

Yes it can be hard to find a decent place to lease, I have a landlord who will lease to MMPR's 5 year lease. He knows all about the MMPR and can even do the renovations. He has properties available in many sizes and also has land to build what you need. He is currently working with two of my clients.

If anyone needs a building in the Ottawa area send me a PM.

Wow. Am I ever grateful for this thread. Excellent information guys. Keep at it.
We are another smallish project looking to start up in Quebec... but politics being what they are around these parts these days, it may be safer for us to look at eastern Ontario.

Hi everyone I'm new here and me and my husband are in the process of trying to apply for to be a LP I'm wondering if I can ask what references everyone used for coming up with a SOP and sanitation program. I'm located in Ontario. We just found the forum and you guys have great information.

I know it will be bit a harder here in Québec since people around here have less knowledge about medical marihuana. I guess it will be part of our job definitions to educts them on the positive effects of cannabis.

Hi,

Another wanna be here
Awesome forum and people
Small Facilty under 3000sq ft Eastern Ont, own it.
Actually not a bad setup, cement floors , drains, well, security system, mostly cement walls, thick cement for vault, not a new place, own hydro pole , three phase,Moe waste license, giant holding tank and septic system.
Recent survey done,ESA inspections, etc…..still a ways to go
Finding QA and added start up hard if one does not spend a pile or be a phd[shoulda paid lab for QA report, SOP …gaaaaah]
I can interpret micrograms per kg of body weight and colonies of bacteria per blah blah but i have no real training for it.
yes just got the same.."send back in two weeks or close file" letter after being ignored for four months
Almost to the point that i may just give up after going so far and attempt to sell place, but did send the aerial photos and rest of requests in.
Have a lot of attributes to our building, put a lot of work in it but its lonely and stressful doing by yourself, i am experienced, but thats not necessarily a plus.
Possibly should have not done anything except on paper but went ahead anyway….wanted to save my genetics.
Also am an MMAR ppl always stayed under limits etc..app in since late August
very good people here in this forum…been lurking for years.
