I assume you mean the chip itself, so Yes Yes Yes

However, price is not that big a deal over the useful life of the COB

As to wattage, high wattage means bigger heat sink = $$$$$

Spectrum is king- to a point. Not all CW/NW/WW chips have the same spectral distribution.

Lots of factors determine the spectrum result. Depending on how broad the WW SD is, in the ~450-600 range, will guide you to which CW or NW to compliment it. Even within the same manufacturers emitters/chips... there are BIN categories, which basically selects best to lowest performers

Then there's the relationship between COB and heat sink and driver.

Unless you have all this in your head, this is why buying from quality companies, like A 51/Apache Tech, is such a good idea

Yea I understand the specs, I was just wondering what your perfect cob/ratio would be at the moment? I'm putting together a light with a cxa2530 4000k at 1400 ma, 2 luxeon es 3w 5000k, and 3 deep red epistar 3w's all at 700 ma. Gonna end up being a small enclosure light, something like 64 watts or so?

How does 4k work you got any logs? I have heard mixed things about 4k but personally would like to try or see a grow using it, I have a 7800k light and the plants love it but a lot of ppl think its worthless.

Yeah, I did not go for them, but for these. I saw similar product at HD yesterday @ $50 per AND they are adjustable

But you are right, the CREE cob + heat sink + driver + reflector (or not)

That's not bad a little big and bulky, I would like to see 4 of those on a panel with some type of enclosure to make them slightly pushed into the receptacle. I also think they make a 50w COB chip and imo more power = better because the biggest flaw of LEDs is canopy penetration, that's why I have side lighting to complement my LEDs

If you could get the 50w cob then run it around 30w and it will last a long time as well and produce a ton of light I really want to DIY with these CXA chips and I read they just came out with like a CXA3590 or something even more powerful than the CXA3070 so im real interested in seeing some designs and stats produced (par/lumen reading) if possible.

Penetration, or lack thereof, has more to do with lens or reflector angles and their diameter and too many primary leafs in the way

I decided to go with 6" instead of the 4" to provide wider coverage + a bit more wattage, all for an extra $50

Another factor is multiple smaller cobs allow for great coverage with balanced umols. The pieces I'm getting from ali are adjustable which will allow better distribution below the canopy primary leafs, which I will be removing anyway
