Mister Black's 'How not to grow Marijuana' grow journal discussion thread

Hello everyone. Now on day 20 of my 1st ever grow. The good news is I have only killed 1 of my plants so far and only had to repot another 4 times! Yes I've made a few mistakes. There was just so much to take it and doing it in the correct order was the hardest challenge. I think I'm finally getting organised now though. Good soil/plan for nutes/decent grow area/lighting sufficient for now/timer schedule/planning LST/topping/FIMming.
One of the hardest things about my first grow is my location. I cannot mail order supplies and the usual local stores are not available in my tropical location. Oh and did I mention it is HOT down here?
Have to grow indoors in a hot and fairly humid climate, not easy. If it is possible I'll find out soon.
There is a link to my journal under my sig. Latest pics taken over the Xmas period are posted.
Thanks for your replies.

Plants have recovered from nute burn/stress and are storming away to the end of vegging. How do I know how big my pots are?

the small tan/ brown pot is .5 or .75 gallon, the black one looks to be 2 or 3, and as far as the plants man, just water them for a while no nutes, i actually go a whole cycle sometimes in roots without feeding at all and get good results.

Yes, good idea. I have started an on/off water/feed regime which will continue until flushing!

water with maxibloom followed by water without maxibloom rinse and repeat.

So 10 days into flower on the spur of the moment I decided to LST my Blue Widow. Why I hear you wonder? Why not! I might reply.
Seriously though I'm quite pleased with how the LSTing went. I'd planned for it by putting holes around the rim of my plant pot. The plant had been topped a long time ago which made LSTing a lot easier and hopefully more productive. I have now exposed both the tops inside leaves nicely. It even allowed me to significantly lower my lights and get them 'inside' the plant more effectivley.
Only time will tell how it goes as it is my 1st ever LST attempt!

Getting used to seeing a few small ants around the grow area. They are attracted to my Co2 bottle misture of yeast and sugar. The Critical is budding up nicely and the buds are growing day by day. It is such a bonsai plant after the shit I put it through but at least it looks like it will produce something. Starting to smell nice but not strong at all. Really have to hold it to the nose to get the smell.

The NL auto is budding up nicely. Looks like it stopped its stretch and is filling out a bit now. Just as well really as it is past the LST stage.
Have a wierd thing where the plants upper roots are exposed above the surface of the soil. That is just from being repotted badly so many times.
Should I just add some more soil to my pot? It is far from full.

The Tangerine Dream looks like it is beginning to bud and I have a problem. It is way too bushy. Can't get enough light to the bud sites. As a result I see a possibility where only 6 bud sites are visible. I'm thinking about doing some LST on this or perhaps do some radical pruning at the very least!

Overall I'm happy with the grow so far. Looks like I'm getting some heat spots developing especially on the Blue Widow which has the 'meatiest' leaves. May have to find a different reflective material next time. This local mylar type stuff is not getting the job done.
I'd want an A/C unit and de humidifier/ purifier in the room next time. More expense but really necessary out here at times.

On the plus side I have a bunch of local high grade bagseed at the moment. Outdoor and knockout with a wonderful smooth taste. Mostly indica but has sativa kick as well. Very relaxing and calming. Just need to find a nice garden to grow them in now! I'd expect them to grow big outdoor!

Hell of a kick on it too.

So besides all the above the new cab appears to be working out real well. The set up has more flexibility now with my LST Blue Widow taking up more space now but now have the space to spread out. 12/12 means the plants are on their own more often and I don't see them much besides their bi weekly watering/feeding.

Using the KISS method of nutes now. Every other watering. If I can find Molasses (unlikely) I'll add some of that on the plain water feeding as well.

What I'm beginning to realise is that my critical auto could be ready to harvest in 2 weeks! The NL auto a week or 2 behind it. It looks like all 4 plants will mature at different times which is not what I expected but of course likely when growing 4 different strains.

It is amazing how different the plants look. The strains are so different. The TD maybe has a touch of sativa in the pheno . Have high hopes it will be a good one. This section has been more relaxed so far. Just as much to do but in a different way. I can't go and check on my plants quite as much now during flower so am more 'removed' from the experience than I was during veg. Probably a bit more distance is a good thing as I don't have chance to dream up a way of poisoning my plant with too many nutes.

The critical I have no idea how long to leave the buds on. Hope the plant will 'tell' me when. I know I want a flush 2 weeks before harvesting so this being my 1st experience I know this is just a trial run really. Luckily it is not a big yielding plant anyway so not much to waste. Well I say small yielding but seeing the size I can't see how it couldn't be anything else. Amazing the way it was dived into bud though. Topping did not work out at all BTW. It produced buds before it could split more than at the top where it grew no more nodes before going into flower.

Something else new this week. I finally found some Blackstrap unsulphured molasses. (not easy to find where I live) So today added molasses to my BW with its regular watering. This is something I've been looking to do for a while now. Hopefully beginning of the 3rd week of flower will not be too late to show some positive effects.
Also have done a bit more LSTing on my TD and a little supercropping on the NL auto. Just at the very top to slow down it's growth hopefully.
Probably not going to post any pics till next week so I can see the massive difference that LSTing is making to my plants. I'm already seeing tons and tons of new bud sites opening up as they now get good access to the light. Quite excited now but also nervous it all could go wrong somehow.

Ok so we all know about the loss of data. This is a PITA and on top of this I'm a bit worried about this sites overall integrity. May stop posting this grow as not being paranoid > posting stupid comments and pics about my noob efforts.

Will look around RIU for some re assurance. If I don't find any then sorry but no more grow reports on here.

Sorry.
