Missed a dark period

Hey guys, so my best plant got fucked up and it missed a dark period. The way I have it set up is it’s in a tent with a light I have four plants growing. 2 flowering 2 not. They all go dark at a certain time but I put the flowering ones in a closet for more dark time. I missed putting them in a closet and didn’t notice so they went along the regular schedule of the light which is 18/6. The second night I remembered and put them in the dark room.

For purposes of this question we can assume the plants were 2 weeks into flower. When I pulled them out of the closet and inspected I found that they had grown fatter Buds overnight but I also found some balls which I took the time to remove. Is the plant ruined?

If you're picking off male pollen sacks, the plant was already a hermie.

They do not form after one night after a single event.

It’s not the end of the world lol like @spek9 said it def didn’t turn hermie off of one instance. Jus keep plucking the balls off and you’ll be fine invest in a separate tent as well it’ll get annoying keep having to move your plants every night then once they really get big it’ll be way harder to move em. But goodluck

It wont turn hermie due to a missed photoeriod as you are describing. Just carry on and it will be fine and I've done the same thing @ times and if the plant genetics are stable no amount of abuse can turn them gay or hermie as we call it so you have nothing to worry about rather than people feeding you bullshit. Its simple biology.

What does turn it hermie

Light leaks, any sort of major stress.. or just genetics
You cant change stable genetics. Its simple biology. Think of plants as humans. Both parners in the making have to have stable chromosones and they cant be changed per say if a man is 100% straight and the female is 100% straight then you have stability and that cant be changed. I forgot more than I know so I just googled what I'm trying to say rather than making a cunt out of myself.

It's not as simple as X-Y chromosomes as you say, it's the gene pairs within the chromosomes.

Even if you definitively have a male and a female and breed them, you may breed in an allele (alternative form of a gene) that makes the plant prone to hermie at the simplest sign of stress. If you lock down and make that trait stable, voila, you'll have hermie plants. No different than introducing and/or locking down a flowering time trait, leaf colour trait, bud size trait etc.
