i dont see that working. perlite doesnt hold moisture very well, and it gets fucking EVERYWHERE. but then again i may be wrong, but i think your sopposed to pretty much use a manure compost mix that you can buy in bags on the internet

you can use perlite as a base to place you colonized cakes on, if your using A PF-tek method. I wouldn't use it in place of Vermiculite unless you had no choice. The Brown rice flower doesn't stick well to it and it is much harder to sterilize. Hope this helps.

Ditto, you can use it in the bottom of the fruiting chamber but don't use it anywhere else unless you wanna plan alot of diseased cakes outside...
