Miracle Grow Moisture Control Soil

I just started this thread to let others know that Miracle Grow Moisture Control Soil has a nutrient rating of 21-7-14. I beleive that is a time release type of fertilizer.
I have seen several people on this forum say that they were using this soil and that is why I bought some myself.
Since then I've managed to kill almost every seedling that I had in this soil. I'm sure I made a lot of other mistakes as well but I know now that the soil also played a big role in frying my plants. :peace:

MG organic choice roasted my seedlings....completely. So did moisture control. They BOTH have fertilizers in them. The Organic choice has these grey mushy clumps in it and that is the fertilizer.....they thought they were beign sneaky but I found it hahaha

that other soil is fine u just dont want use nutes yet. just test your soil first for the proper amount of nutrients. then you will know when to use the proper amount of nutes.

The mix I switched to is not my first or ideal choice but I had to get them out of the MG moistuire control as it was frying them.
I'm currently using Jiffy Seed Mix Soil mixed about 60/40 with Perlite.

did you put the seeds directly into the soil.. or did you start them in a different medium.. ie rockwool?

The first time I started them in jiffy cubes this time they went directly into soil. Then I was advised by nowstopwhining to get them all out of the MG soil before I fried them again. So I transplanted them all before it was too late, hopefully they don't get all stressed too.

And how many days after germination did you start to notice the burn?

Was it a typical burn... starting at the tip of the leaf?

cheers
