Mini-Split Compressor inside garage?

I have my flower room inside my garage, it’s completely sealed off and partitioned. I’m looking at A/c options and I wanted opinions on whether I could mount the compressor unit which is usually outdoors inside my garage on the back of my flower room wall..? My garage is pretty large and fairly well ventilated. I’ve been doing some research on the forum and it seems as if a mini-split is a more efficient option than a window unit or portable.. I want to take the correct option from the getgo and not have to re-do something in the future. I’m trying to avoid having the unit outdoors as my neighbors are fairly close by.. Has anyone done this before? I’d appreciate any advice..

Yeah I realise that but it’s a completely separate area and I’m not fussed about that area heating up.. will it still affect the efficiency of the a/c in the flower room though..?

I’ve seen setups where guys have a window unit blowing into a tent even.. isn’t that the same dynamic really..?

My other option is a window unit.. cutting an aperture into my flower room, fabricating some kind of housing around the back with an in-line fan and venting the heat outdoors through ducting.. thoughts on this? Or should I just pick up a portable and use that for now..?

The guys that do that generally are growing in basements an it’s cold thus needing the heat. What’s wrong with putting it outside? Are your neighbors nosy? Do you live in a cold area where you can cool it passively with just a exhaust fan. What sort of lighting are you planning on using?

I would prefer not to have my neighbors see it if possible.. my garage is separate from my house so an a/c installed there would raise questions.. I am currently venting passively using an exhaust fan which is perfect for most of the year but I upped my lighting earlier this year, currently I have 1890w of CMH lighting in there and with the summer months approaching here I’m having to dim my lights more regularly to keep my temps in check which isn’t ideal. I’m going to need some kind of a/c solution soon so I’m trying to see what my best option would be..

Your best bet will be the mini. Perhaps you simply don’t like working in your garage when it’s hot as balls. This is why I live far from people on a bunch of land.

I’ve done this due to security reasons on a couple grows.
You will need to ventilate this seperate space that houses the compressor or the backside of a window banger. Done it with both. How big of Ac?

Im thinking a 12000 or 18000 BTU.. If I utilise a window unit I can do the full installation myself without bringing someone in which I’d also like to avoid if possible..

Yeah I hear you on the window unit, been there lol.
If doing window unit I’d put charcoal filter on exhaust just in case. Some/most window units i’ve messed with aren’t 100% sealed on the inside of them. A little stink can escape.

12k btu of AC should be just fine for 2k watts of light. 6k btu per 1K of light is what I do here in Norcal where it gets pretty hot during the summers.

Thanks for the advice Aeroknow.. you think a 4” or 6” fan within the housing to vent the heat..? I was figuring on a filter too..

4 might work but I would go with a 6 and like Phresh filter 6x24. Great combo for smaller stuff like this.

You could put a temp switch on the ventilation fans in this new “lung room” or other part of the garage, so its not on all the time.
