mid-flowering catastophe?

i have a plant in what i assume to be mid-late flowering stage.
it will take me forever to explain all the trials and tribulations this plant has gone through, and i assure all of you i've learned a LOT from this grow.

not actually meaning to i grew what looks like an excellent SOG plant, it's like 22 inches, and looks a bit like a lollipop, just a stick with a big bush at the top. bag seed, in soil, under 150w HPS.

it's been flowering well for about 6 weeks. it never got much of a main cola, mostly i think because it grew to the top of my box and just didn't get enough light up there, i've bent it and the top is once again getting light.

getting to the point, i hadn't seen it for a few days and today i take a look at the top and the petals seem thinner.....like sparce, not narrower. and as far as i can tell there appears to be two distinct top points. in the thick mess of leaves there are two......leafy ....junctures that look a lot like the one that stood there previously.
is this somethng that happens?
has my plant decided to top itself this late in life?
could it be getting extra light? maybe at the top? bringing it to re-veg and as a result the plant hapens to be branching from within the main cola?

i know a picture will probably be a big help so i'll try to post one tonight, if anybody knows anything i'm listening and i appreciate it.

alright a have a couple pics but i'm not sure if you'll see what i'm concerned about. you can see the one.....nexus? the point where growth circles out of, well, there are two of them, you don't really see the second. you can tell because of the tiny leaves that are coming from a seperate source. also notice the yellowing of the newest growth.

any ideas on how much longer?

p.s.- i'm legally blind and i had a friend take the pic, so i'm not really positive if she got a good angle.

Looks like EARLY flowering stage to me. Definately a while to go yet. At least 5 or 6 weeks, maybe more. And it does look like its been topped. Did the top get burned by your light maybe? Regardless, its not a problem. Two head are better than one! The very newest growth should be kinda yellow, and turns green after exposure to light.
My concern is, it looks like there may possibly be a few (gulp) pollen sacks? Hard to tell, but have your friend check that plant for anything that looks like little BALLS. Might be a hermie. Good luck.

the top was slightly browned from the light, it had a little head of hairs before.
as far as pollen sacks....
i hope its not a hermie, we see what you're talking about, and they don't seem like what the male plants were growing, but i won't be able to tell until it matures more.
what is it that tells you that it's still early in the flowering stage?
now i feel a bit foolish but i was thinking that i started counting days from when i started 12/12, and i forget this plant didn't show flowers until a couple weeks into it. so maybe it's only been about 4 weeks of actual flowering, does that seem more appropriate?
but thank you, that's exactly what i needed to hear. even if it is bad news it's these pitfalls that will protect my next batch.

Ok so if its been 12/12 for 4 weeks( it often takes a couple weeks to get going), your average flowering period lasts between 8 -12 weeks so you've got a good 5-6 weeks left. Thats what it looked like to me. You can tell by the amount of hairs, and trichomes.
