You should try it.... micro grows have always been my favorite... this is my first "micro", and i did it more or less on a whim

I wanted to start a grow, but didn't have the budget for a larger scale grow. A micro grow just seemed perfect, and I have been itching to do it =]

This whole micro cab is just an experiment... I'm already making plans for a more permanent micro cab, but not until I finish this one and completely run through it's coarse...seeds - mothers - clones - at least 2 harvests.

Speaking of experiments

... I was suggested to keep the cups over the girls a bit longer...

So I'm going to put cups over all except one (Spirit)

Spirit and Star are about the same size and level of development. I will be comparing the 2 until Star becomes too big for the cup, and see what difference, if any, keeping the cups on them make.

Stay tuned =]

Showing first sign of a problem this morning =[
They are all showing some yellowing starting from the bottom up... not allot of yellowing, but enough to have me concerned... It could be the the water level is to high, or not enough (N), or maybe they didn't like the fish emulsion.... aether way, I'm going to lower the water level, change out the rez. and see how they respond to that... If they like it, I'll keep it like that for a while longer... if they get worse, I'll add 2 capfuls of fish emulsion. If they still keep getting yellow, then I'll switch the nutes.

Another thing to note... It's only been 3 days and I have already noticed the difference between Star and Spirit... Star is the one with plastic cup still over her for better humidity, and Spirit has no cup.... Star had caught up to Spirit, and is doing noticeably better then Spirit, So at this point, I"m already convinced that the humidity dome is better for them at this age. =]

Wish me luck guys I'll post pics later today.

Don't worry gobears.. wind is still doing well.... and good luck with your 2 new seeds =] ... the fish emulsion is good stuff.... stinky, but good. I've always started seedlings, but soaking rockwool in water with a tab of fish emulsion for a day before putting the seedlings in.

Here are some pics of the girls... if you look closely there is some slight yellowing from the bottom.

and here is Star and Spirit side by side... as you can see the humidity cups do help alot, so i'm keeping them all under cups until they outgrow them.

I changed the rez with pure ph'ed water, and made sure the water level was a bit lower... during the last rez change I filled it higher then normal, submerging the netpots bit more then half way. Now they are only 1/4 of the way under water.

I'll see how they respond to this and work from there.

After doing some reading, I'm sure Fish emulsion is great for starting seedlings and for soil grows.... but not as a stand alone hydro nute... and may cause more problems then benefits... So I added some h2o2 in the rez to kill off any bad bacteria that could have resulted from the fish emulsion (better safe then sorry) I'm going to let it sit like that for a few hours.

The only other nutes I have at the moment is PureBlend Pro-Bloom for hydroponics... It may be a blooming nute, but it's better then nothing.

I will change the rez again tonight and add some PureBlend at 1/4 strength. And hope that takes care of the problem, and get my girls back to growing.

Stay tuned. =]

this is going to be a popular thread, and a possible sticky. well done, and very informative, i have been toying with the SCOG method for a while and this thread just cleared up my confusion. i have yet to venture into hydroponics but it looks like once you get it, you get it and i am on the quest to learn as much as possible. thanks for this awesome grow and i cannot wait to see how these plants turn out. thaks for all the great info and ideas

Glad I could help Brendon, and I hope you will be able to start yourself a grow cab soon... I highly recommend them... and they are allot of fun =]

I was going to keep them on only 5-1-1 fish emulsion, and then bloom them early. Since Im only a week or 2 away from flowering them, I might as well keep feeding them the bloom nutes... besides, after some reading I found that there are some people that use the pureblend pro bloom through out the entire grow. Either way I will be getting some pureblend pro grow when I get the chance.

Last night I cleaned out the rez.. again.. Added capful of the PureBlend Pro Bloom cuz from what I have been reading, this stuff is very concentrated... honestly I should have a ppm meter to give them the proper amount... until I get one, I'll just give a little bit at a time.

I also removed the 2 extra cfls I added earlier.. I've been having high temp/low RH problems ever since adding them, and the plants don't need the extra light yet. As soon as I put in an intake vent.

Also took some pix last night...

Here are the girls..

Esperansa with her yellow tips (born with)

Wind looking very healthy... looks like she is going to be shorter and bushier then the rest.. so far she is my best candidate for a clone mom... if she's grows up to be a girl =]

Star... and she is the Star of the show, so far.

Spirit... until the cup/no cup experiment, Spirit was the biggest, but didn't do so well with out her cup... she has her cup back so I'm sure she will bounce back in no time.

nice i love the camera your using, what is it? some of the macro shots are sweet.
would i suggest reducing the amount of light penetrating your clay/rockwool /root area. you could put some rings around their reflecting light right now that their small and its all exposed. member roots/lights = slower growth or no growth.

i was at homedepot and noticed they sell a weed guard material, lets air in water in but not the light. should work and not affect anything else.. just a thought.

love how organized everything looks and the lil fake animals. keep up the good work.

Personally, I would stop spraying them...This will reduce the possibility of strange hard to figure out abnormalities...Second give them alittle N....They will love you for it. Are you using H2O2? You mentioned it on the first page, but I have not heard anything after that. If so, you probably should stick with inorganic nutes for them. H2O2 will kill off the "live" organic nutes, so it could be throwing off the soup you are feeding them. What is your PH? I don't think I ever saw any mention of it...PPM?Temps? They look like they are struggling abit, and looks like you can use some tweaking on the system. BTW, I love the creative feeding system, looks like it should work well as long as you have electricity...Do you plan to do anything different with your lighting setup, or ventilation? Nice work so far!
