Michigan mmj patient in L.A. for 2 weeks

I'm visiting my brother in West Hollywood for two weeks. I am a Michigan medical marijuana patient and would love to be able to get some of the medicine out here to help with my back pain. My brother is a cardholder here, but he doesn't know what does and doesn't work for me so I would like to be able to pick out the medicine for myself.

I have already called around to a couple places and they have all told me that I need a Cali license or some form of residence to be able to get a recommendation. I really don't know anything about how the mmj laws work around here but maybe someone could explain better for me? Is there anywhere I would be able to get a recommendation without being a Cali resident?

Why don't you tell your bro what to get for you? Looking at it won't tell you much. Test results tell you a little, but not much. In the end you don't really know till you try it. Try searching weedmaps for dispensaries in your bros area, look at their menus and tell him what to get for you.

True, looking at it and test results only tell you so much, but usually a good budtender can tell you a great deal more about the differences in strains. I like talking with the budtenders and try to get an idea of what I'm getting; whether a particular hybrid is more on the indica or sativa side, whether a given sativa is more clear and focused or intensely euphoric and non-motivational, and so on.

I'm definitely enjoying the Sabreezy's Sour Diesel, Charlie Sheen OG, Fruity Pebbles and caviar that my brother got for me already, but going in for yourself is half the fun! The idea of a hash bar also sounds incredibly awesome to me. I guess the bright side is that I'm not spending $50 on a recommendation so I can have my brother get me more goodies.
