mh vs hps for vegging

Ok I have a 150w hps I'm using for vegging right now,and using a 1000w hps with hortilux super hps bulb.my question is what would be best choice for me ill be growing up to 12 plants,as that is what is allowed by law in michigan.I'm growing in 5 gallon buckets,using fox farm trio pack and also beastie blooms,any advice would be great!I just want to get long fat buds that have more dense weight!

wait, are you saying that you're using a 150w HPS for vegging and a 1000w HPS for flowering? just curious why such a small light for the veg.

You'd need a bigger light if planning on vegging full grown under the MH. I don't veg more than 4 plants under my 250W and that's about all it can handle due to the light coverage area. You'll have no problem vegging under a HPS, people do it all the time. Some swear by it and all they use from Veg to flower is HPS.

It's all about experimenting though, try out what works best for you and your setup. You'll prob change everything around a few times over again, I know I did.

Well I started experimenting in a closet and had it layin around,just got rid of 2 400w hps,but they were old and loud,got new 1000w hps and going with 1000w switchable ballast that will do mh or hps,so really question on bulb,I only have 2 plants under 150w hps,but as I will be gaining another patient I want to get the biggest bud for my buck!just never used mh kind of unsure,I know hps works well,but I've been told that longer buds becuase it reduces the stretch and space in between flowers?just want the best ill be doin 12 in veg at once,if I ever make my mind up!

I would run the MH for vegg. Its proven that the blue spectrum provides the best light penetration for rapid veggitative growth. HPS proven red spectrum to make dense fat lil nuggs. But you CAN run it however you like.
