no i take responsibility for my OWN actions. We are an inland surface-well rig

do you understand what happened in the Gulf? could've happened to anybody. shit happens...and oil is still the number one commodity in all of the industrialized world

I feel good about my job, providing domestic resources to people that need it. I would NOT feel good about my job if I were paid to kill people

So why should the troops be blamed for the actions of others if you don't have to be?

i'm here at home providing a resource for my fellow country men (well, a lot of the crude we drill does get exported. i wish i could put a stop to it, but i have no control over that).

why should my money go to a bunch of armed thugs to go into ANOTHER country and bomb/shoot people? does this do ANYTHING to make me feel more safe or secure?

Or does it only create more anti-American sentiment and hate/violence in form of retaliation becomes an issue...

because the TROOPS make these decisions to join the army and put themselves into these situations. and what's the result? $1.5 trillion/year of US money...going toward an effort that achieves nothing?

If Afghanistan didn't have opium we wouldn't be there. If Pakistan didn't have rich mineral deposits and Jeff Immelt wasn't the job czar, we wouldn't be there

You are right, but I just think you place the blame on the wrong people, the ones that pump out propaganda and profit from wars are the cause of the wars. It is always poor men fighting rich men's wars. Should we blame the victims of the propaganda or the propaganda machines?

For a guy that's so against our evil government you have no problem taking their money. Tax subsidies.

Your employers are not supplying oil to the domestic market, they are selling it to the highest bidder; including China. Blaming a soldier for war is like blaming a guy on an oil rig for the Gulf accident and the Alaskan accident

For what it's worth your employer is more responsible for the Iraq war than any soldier is. Your hands are as bloody as mine my friend

well to make it more clear... its not the "soldiers" fault for following orders that came from the top... and sadly its what they are "taught" or indoctrinated into performing split second tasks (like killing someone) without even "thinking it through"...

they are taught that because in battle theres no time to second guess yourself or the orders of another... its survival mode and it is an "arena" in which was set up by the "opposing parties" i.e. banks and its "owned" corporation's/country's interests... (remember a country is a corporate entity)

what really happens and or happened with wars... is that these poor soldiers... fought and died for those "select" handful of people to profit from it...

and thats the truth...

why are people so stupid???

why do we keep letting it go on this way???

wars consist of...

say a leader wanted to declare war against another country... i.e. say america/the pres/jp morgan... wanted to go after say iran's leader and their nations control over their land and oil rights...

then whomever "wanted" to fight them(like the bank's owners... with their interest in oil etc...) would fund a country/corporation to go to war in the first place and "invade" and basically fuck shit up for every other innocent person in that country...

INSTEAD of that...

have the ones who want to go to war(say the bankers or politician) that wants to because it would be SO profitable for them...(all while fucking up life for hundreds of thousands of soldiers and innocent civilians)

and that person ALONE should be the one to go and attack the country their damn selves... and stop "lying" to a nation to "propagandize" and "encourage" others to "fight for the cause" bullshit...

put the two goddamn leaders in a cage match and see how many "countries" will want to "go to war" with each other...

and ill bet you not a damn one will want to "go to war" that way... LOL

its all just a bunch of bullshit... so that a rich few "designed" wars for profit... and never ever have to be involved in a single second of battle... all the while they sit back in their mansions sipping martinis on their private beaches... and just continue to lie and manipulate and get others to do their "dirty work" for them while the soldiers and innocent civilians are the ones who suffer while both sides just kill each other...

people have been falling for this shit for millennia...

oh look the "king" says that "god" told him that this other country is "evil" and that the people in it are "all evil" so its okay that we go in and invade and slaughter all of them and take their land/resources etc...

SAME SHIT DIFFERENT DAY...

FUCK! i'm just a rat chasing a piece of paper through a maze like everybody else...how do we reconcile our guilt of sin?
No need for guilt my man.

I look at it like this. I do EVERYTHING I can to take care of my family. Treat people with respect and be a nice person. That's all we can do. I can't change the world, I just accept things for what they are and do my best to be a good person

In the end isn't that all that really matters? Were all chasing that cheese, all playing the same pointless game

just keep doing my thing i guess. i hate thinking that the oil companies that contract us (a roustabout company) for drilling services...are multi-national, government-operated entities that are involved in manipulation, fraud, etc...I mean it's oil...the larger ones hold massive share in the greatest wealth-producing resource in the history of the world

When we'd purchase diesel fuel delivered to the rig to fuel generators for mudshakers, the loader, skid steer, light plants, rig, water pumps...we'd purchase 3,500 gallons at times...a little >$17,000. That'd get us through 2 wells in a standard week, and we're only drilling 1.800-2,200 ft average. The finished wells out here are anywhere from 15,000-35,000ft, it's wherever they hit the shale that's sandwiched between limestone.

The company I'm with earns ~$100k per well that we drill...in my best 2-week work hitch my crew drilled and put casing in 5 wells, earning the company $500k in revenue.

I'm on break in AZ right now...they have apparently 15 dispensaries here. i need to check this quazi legal shit out. Drug laws here are so hard, right down here by the border, even considering the medical movement, it's such a fucking connundrum lol. FIGURES

26 dispenary licenses behind held for $25k refundable deposit. why should it cost me this high a "bid" to let a plant do what it does- grow freeeeely

i guess i'm an idealist. i see the monetary/power struggle and suggest "why can't it be THIS way" even when i know conflict of interest makes it impractical

I'll say this to ANY veteran's face: I was watching an episode of GANGLAND on TV...these guys SEEK gang membership and SEEK the further moral, ethical and spiritual destruction of their own neighborhoods. They'll tell you "it's no way to live a life"...as they're popping clips into a .38 and speaking of their territorial or financial "dominance" on TV as if they're trying to glorify the lifestyle.

You mean you hate the violence, you hate the lifestyle, but you just can't get your actions in synch with your moral high-ground?

If you want to go KILL PEOPLE (cuz that's what these fucking troops do)...do it on your own time, on your OWN DIME...DON'T MAKE THE ENTIRE COUNTRY PAY FOR IT

The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral,
begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy.
Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.
Through violence you may murder the liar,
but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth.
... Through violence you may murder the hater,
but you do not murder hate.
In fact, violence merely increases hate.
So it goes.
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence,
adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness:
only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
