medical marijuana questions

Hey, how's it going? It's been a while since I've been on this site (irrelevant but I thought I'd just throw that out there).

So I've kind of been curious as to how to get medical bud here in Canada, specifically in the GTA (Mississauga more specifically) area in Ontario.

I figured there are some people here that will help me with the process of getting that permit to buy medical bud. Also, if there are doctors in the GTA that can help you get this special permit. I'd just like to know as much info as I can about the whole process, really.

If anybody is wondering, I've been dealing with anxiety and depression and it sucks.

I know at weeds glass and gifts you don't even need a doctors note. All they require is proof that you already have a prescription for something cannabis can help with( Valium, Percocet, T -3's ) anything really from the sounds of it.

Wow, thanks for all the replies! I'll look into it.

So do you guys have your permit? I heard they took away the privilege of being able to grow your own crops for personal use a while back.

Hey guy, natural health clinic is giving away licences for mmpr for free!! They just opened a clinic in Edmonton!


I personally have the mmar with the right to grow sustained until a relevant court case has been decided.

Can still grow at the location assigned....unfortunately I need to change locations and as patients under the mmar, we are unable to do so....

Hey so I have another question, I hear that even if I get my mmpr from any doctor, they'll usually just pair me up with one company that sells MM and I'll be limited to just that one company and there's a bunch of people on here that really hate those companies?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still learning about all this.

No need correcting...you got it right. Get a doctors note and look at the list of dispensaries in your area.

Fill it once with mmpr and then buy any where else...join the boycott

You can pair up with as many LP's as your doctor is willing to sign for.

Oh man, all these steps are giving me anxiety just thinking about them!

Especially since my family doctor isn't pro-cannabis, I found out that there's a doctor that will give patients an mmpr in my city but they charge a "few hundred dollars" - I don't know if it's worth it.

I found out that some select dispensaries have their own doctors that make you a member for a small fee. Also, it's hard to find one that offers the strains I'm looking for (Sativa's and high CBD, med thc strains) I actually found a dispensary that charges 50 dollars for an evaluation from the doc but I didn't bookmark the page and I already forgot which one of the 25 dispensaries in Toronto it was.

I understand that those dispensaries are illegal and I will get busted if a cop catches me smoking that medical herb. So, does anybody know any good dispensaries that have a doctor who can make me a member?

It should be a lot easier than that.....that's for sure...
I was instrumental in changing my doctors mind......she even asked me if I wanted to be hooked up with an LP last time I was in...lol..I said No thanks....
good luck...and relax it will work out and you will be legal.....and soon It probably won't matter anyways....
My feeling is legal rec weed will kill any medical market....just due to price....

My recommendations:

1. Ask your doctor to fill out prescriptions for 2 LPs. Be prepared to explain why (show proof that they have low supply, low quality, you need 2 different strains, etc). You might get lucky.
2. Signup for an LP that gives out memership cards (ie: Aphria - I know there are others, but that's the only one I've seen in person)
3. Take the membership card and a photocopy of your prescription to the local compassion club or dispensary and start a relationship
4. Order from an LP once so you have a legal container for MMJ

At this point you should now have a good source (dispensary), a legal document in case you get pulled over (membership card - most cops don't know the difference) and a legal container (whatever bottle or bag the LP provided). You're now living in a pseudo-legal realm that shouldn't fail you, without having to smoke the irradiated crap from the LPs.

Here in Colorado that's not what happened. Idk how it will get structured up there but here rec is more expensive because there is a higher tax rate on rec sales.
