Homeboy came thru a day or two ago with a really expensive macro lens. He took some pictures and we checked em out last night. The quality was crazy, we would look at a picture like i've posted previously but then he'd zoom in far enough to make it look like we we're looking through a microscope. im gonna have him email me a couple so i can throw up here but yeah, after looking at the trichomes from the pics we determined harvesting should be put off for another week or two at least. Resin glands were about 60% clear and 40% cloudy... So it looks like we will be waiting a little longer.

On another note, the wispy nuggs i chopped from beneath the canopy have dried nicely and been allowed to cure up a bit. Probably gonna have them sit in some oil or butter over night for some brownies tomorrow

Chopped one today!

I must admit, kind of on impulse.. I was changing the res, preparing for the flush, and everything started falling down around me. The weight of the plants had the net pots slipping through the holes I cut in the lid, the nugs started causing the branches to fall bend over, all while the plants began to shift and fall over. I, with only two hands, was unable to handle the mess alone so i started screaming trying to get the attention and help of one of my roommates. Three ran in thinking I had accidentally sliced an artery or something by how panicked and frantic I sounded only to find me with three plants leaning against my body outside the grow tent. I had each of them grab a trunk to stabilize the plants while I went to town tying up stalks with string. I was unable to restore the previous harmony that my plants had grown into even after yards of hemp were used. So I chopped the one which looked most done to me.

It only received one day of reduced nutes(besides the two day mini flush were I got the ppm down to 300 on account of thinking I had to harvest early to move out) yet it showed the most color change in the leaves to date. All of the larger fan leaves had began to show purple which surprised me a little. I am unsure if it happened because of the flush or because the temperature in my house drops below 60 at night. I don't think that Maui Waui traditionally has a purple phenotype but I wouldn't doubt Nirvana breeding it in because I mean come one, who doesn't love some purple in their trees!

Any ways, here are a couple pictures, those macro shots my homie took were about 28 MBs a piece, RIU couldn't handle it...

Large fan leaves removed..

Hung to dry after a closer trim..

And yeah, pretty stoked..

Feedback, comments, suggestions all welcomed! :leaf:

Nice job... I found this link from your review on the Nirvana seed site. I am growing some maui waui from nirvana outdoors this season so I was real interested to see how it went for you. Looks great man, definitely wondering more about how it smokes. beautiful pics, would like to see more from harvest if u have them

Hey guys, sorry for the hiatus, been busy moving and starting a new job. But yeah, overall i got just about 3.5 ounces, not counting the pop corn nugs that got tossed into the trim pile. Smoke was amazing after about 2-2.5 weeks of curing. Plenty of compliments from the homie. All gone now haha, got me high for free for a couple weeks paid some bills, and paid the deposit for the house. Got three clones that are all approaching 12 inches in height. Topped one and then tied down the two vertical growth shoots to super crop it. FIM'ed another for about 5 vertical growth shoots, and I am LST'ing the third. Doing this one in soil, 100% organic. Flavor and smell of this last batch was good but I couldn't help feelin like it coulda been better.

But yeah, I will get some photos and a more in depth reflection in a couple hours

cool, would be nice to hear more about it and follow ur new crop as it grows... sounds like you were happy with them. Mine are doing pretty good outdoors, LST'ing them and they are some nice little bushes about 2 1/2 ft tall right now, vegging away...

easy there koala bear.

again, apologies for the lack of dedication these days, its just so hard to stay inside during the summer! Anyways, yeah here goes the reflection...

Overall, great plant and easy grow, Nirvana Seed Co. has some great genetics to offer. The plants grew at a faster rate than I saw in my last grow, again probably due to stellar genetics. The plant I attempted to lollipop (grown farthest right) only yielded about 16 grams of dried material. However, the trichomes on that particular lady where the best I saw of the three. The first two pictures I throw up will be of it hanging to dry and then a macro of its trichomes. The plant I didn't really attempt to modify at all (farthest left) yielded highest. It produced 39 grams of dry material, 22 of it in the central cola. I didnt factor the underdeveloped pop corn nugs which grew under the canopy. Dopest nugg came off of this plant, fatest nugg I have ever owned. It was a bust though, had to scrap half of it due to mold. I thought that I could push my foliar feeding scheduled cut-off date a little bit due to the temps being a little on the high side, joke was on me tho. If I didn't +rep whoever warned me about that a couple months ago, let me know and I'll get at you with some cause I would have probably had mold on more than just that nugg had you not stopped me. Yeah and then that leaves us with the central plant which I topped for two main colas. That technique worked really well and I would encourage any one growing with these particular genetics to employ it. Although It didn't yield as high as the unmodified plant, the overall nuggs were superior. One colas weighed 17 grams and the other 14. All secondary nuggs from that plant ranged from a dub (1.3) to an eighth.

Next time I grow hydroponically I will make sure two cover my reservoir in either some kind of reflective tape or a matte black paint. While I never experianced any serious problems with root rot, I did notice some of the main root veins were beginning to turn green. Not algae green but the kind of green that points to photosynthesis, something roots should never experience. When roots begin to process light, they cease absorbing nutrients from their respective mediums. Also I will try to get my hands on organic nutrients. While the flavor and smell werent bad by any means, I couldnt help feeling like they could be better. That and the use of any other organic nutes or additives werent as effective as they could have been. Ive been told that as a rule, synthetic and organic never really mix that well.

Ive already been veggin plants for the next grow. This time around I am going to be growing in soil. I've mixed up organic soil, o. blood meal, o. bone meal, and o. guano. Misted it all lightly with a water/molasses solution, tryin to get those microorganisms primed. I have 3 maui wauis, clones from the previous batch. One I lst'ed for a couple weeks, another I fimmed (with more success than I thought initially), and the final i topped again. However after the two vertical growth tips were recognized, I tied them down to redistribute the growth hormones to the lower nodes that were still growing in. I am predicting fat canopies from all of them. I've decided that I would much rather have a lot of hand grenade sized nuggs instead of a couple trophy nuggs. Personal decision...

Any ways, here are some pics... sorry if they take a bit to load but I am feelin to lazy to adjust all of their individual sizes..

I' throw a link up to the next grow on this page if I end up throwin one together.. Keep it growin'!
