Maturity

Hey guys, I pose this question only after being unable to find it on the growfaq....About how long does it take for a plant to mature....now before I get drilled for ''not reading enough'' let me say this, I know it depends on strain type, indica/sativa and all that.....but mine is an unknown type. I was wondering if I was to count the nodes or anything like that, is there a set number that indicates maturity? I ask because space for the growth spurt during flowering is limited, as always, thanks for the help.

it is going to depend on if you are using soil or hydroponics...the latter will take about half the time but is for advanced growers.

I'm using soil. Admittedly I am a compltely new grower on my first grow....I know I've made mistakes and will correct them next time. I know maturation time depends on strain, growing conditions etc. I'm just asking if there is a general timeframe that one can tell they're mature and ready to put in flowering.

The reason for this is spacing issues.

Depends. I am growing outside right now. Put them out last month. They won't be ready for about 5 months (you can give or take a month).

The plant will tell you when it is ready to flower. Until very recently I never gave my plants a decent veg' from seed. Usually 4 weeks, find the mom etc...

Now, after two grows with two different strains I have discovered that the plants WILL show sex before flower (I will do this with every strain i grow from now on, i have some master kush I have yet to germinate). They will also tell you when it is time to flower as the stems will elongate so that the nodes are no longer growing adjacent to each other.

A plant reaches sexual maturity when the nodes start 'alternating', which usually happens from seed in most varieties after about 6-8 weeks vegetative growth.

Gotcha....they're alternating, and I'm roughly on week five of vegging...I plan to put 'em in flowering next week.
