I have also wondered why the Vdc adjustment. I have used 36V drivers and they did not give enough voltage for Vero 29's. I adjust the V to max around 40V so that it can power a Vero 29's.
Increasing Vdc will increase power since power is current multiplied with voltage.
I think adjusting Vdc should be fine as long as the current is also not maxed out. ie The Voltage X DC current in within driver max limits.

example HLG-320H-36
18 ~ 36V 8.9Amps
36*8.9= 320 watts
Now if you were to adjust Vdc to 40V
Then 320/40= 8amps
So adjust current so that it does not go over 8amps

no, I tested with HLP-80H-36 sometime back. The I (current) did not go down when i maxed out Vdc.
In the example above. If you max out Vdc to 40V then do not expect current to go down from 8.9 Amps to 8 amps on its own. It will be somewhere in the middle or might even stay at 8.9amps. May be this is why @ttystikk called it twilight zone.
You might be able to get 40V at 8.9 Amps= 350 watts. But since its rated at 320 watts, reduce current to keep power around 320 watts for max reliability.

This only works with (A) or (C), not the (B) version then?

What is the difference?
I was planning to run 5 V13 on it (@500mA 32V 16w 41.55%) in parallel!?

Google HLP-80H it is naked power supply. It will make you dance if you do not ground it correctly or touch at wrong place. Not safe kind. SDS said they can be like tasers.
Stick with HLG-80H
HLG-80H-36 would require you to put all V13 in parallel. Safe low DC voltage

For series cob connection(recommended) with constant current driver.
Since you in Europe did you consider
4x V13 on ELG-75-C500
Or 5 or 6 V13 on Elg-100-c500

HLG-80H-c is available in 350ma and 700ma only

How does driver efficiency come into play in a configuration? For example 4 x 3590 3500K 36V CD @1400mA, 195W total, 56% efficient, run on a 86% efficient driver and run on a 94% efficient driver. How do the numbers change?

i wanne build a new LED fixture, i would like to use one hlg-60h-c700a driver and three CXB3590 3500K CD @ 700mA (23W ea).
I would like to know how much this LED fixture use total watt with the driver, i only know how to calculate the watt consum from the LEDS.

0,7 * 32 =22,4W but how i can calculate how much the driver or the whole LED fixture use :/ , maybe someone is able to explain me how to calculate that.

This Led fixture i wanne build 4 times so i would need 4 * hlg-60h-c700a driver and 12 * CXB3590 3500K CD.
With that kind of Led fitxures i would be mega modular,so i could hang them individual over the canopy if necessary.
But now i wonder if i should better use other drivers to save energy, like one HLG-185H-C700 and one hlg-80h-c700.

With which driver setup i would save more energy, and how much more energy would use the other setup:?

The 86% driver setup will consume 226.7W.
The 94% one will consume 207.4W.
Thanks alesh. I'm trying to figure out the math. My numbers come close to yours but not exactly. What am I missing?

195w x 1.14 = 222.3 for the 86% driver
195w x 1.06 = 206.7 for the 94% driver

If you want to use multiplication, you would have to multiply using the inverse of the percentage. 1/x

1/.94 = 1.0638 195*1.0638 = 207.45w
1/.86 = 1.1628 195*1.1628 = 226.74w

184 dissipation W ->66W heat ->)

If i try now to calculate 184Watt / 0,94 = 195 ,744 Watt
But if i check the Watt consum with a KILL A WATT (AMP meter), it says me i use 216,4 Watt

Did i something wrong? or did i use just wrong formula to calculate :?

From where did you obtain the driver?

Also, how long did you run it on the Kill A Watt? For a few hours? Or just when you first plug it in?

MW drivers usually put out slightly more than rated current. Did you measure the actual current?
