Master Kush--215 Watts CFL Stealth Grow!

That PH meter is cheap and inaccurate. Its worth the investment to buy a more expensive model. I used the same one your using for my first grow and I believe that's a reason why I struggled was due to the PH never being correct. Good luck!

Thanks for the input but I'm afraid I won't be needing it good sir! I constantly calibrate with
calibration solution, an analog PH meter and a liquid PH tester. My grow is going great, no luck needed.

Thanks for stopping by anyway!

Looking good man. Sorry about your 1st grow being a male hope this one makes up for it. I'm really interested in the NL part of your grow. keep us updated. and is it safe to take pics during the "dark period"? *just wondering*
Btw I have a grow going to https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/712625-rollingdopes-la-confidential-bagseed-cfl.html if you are interested.
Thank you. Definitely will keep ya' updated. Oh, I didn't take pictures during the dark period, I waited until turning the lights back on. I don't think she's like being woken up like that!

I'll definitely check out your journal, I always hear good things about LA Confidential!

Thanks! Yeah, I just trashed the MK..it wasn't getting any better after a month. Guess just a bad seed.
The pics with the droopy leaves were either taken right after the lights came on, or due to having a dry/nearly dry medium (before watering/feeding). One thing I've noticed about Northern Lights unlike any other plants is that it's sensitive to low moisture. If I let the medium dry out, the leaves droop. It has to actually stay somewhat moist, which I'm just realizing. I use a mix of Vermiculite, Peat Moss and 30% perlite so my drainage is very good...guess I have to water more often.

Another thing is she drops her leaves ALOT when lights are off (right before and shortly after). That's something else I haven't seen. It could be my low humidity also..it's at the highest 30% but usually 20% or so. I'm actually gonna be purchasing a grow tent in a couple of weeks so I will have a more humid environment with a humidifier. So we will see how it goes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Looks like I'll be buying a new pH meter then!

The grow is coming along well dude, subbed.

Day #29

So far so good..so far!! She's approaching a month old now, tomorrow, so I will be giving her one last transplant (again) to a 1 gallon. I think I have a 8" currently, and she is probably close to being rootbound. Going to let her stretch her roots for a week and then switch to 12/12!!!
:weed:

Right now I'm feeding her every time I water. Since my medium has no nutrients at all, I find if I water with plain water between feedings, it doesn't promote fast growth and the leaves start to lighten up quick. So I started with 1/8 teaspoon of Dyna-Gro per gallon, and now I'm going to give her the full 1/4 teaspoon @ 1000ml per feeding. Then if I want to give her "plain water" I'll give her a nutrient dose at 1/8 teaspoon, so she doesn't go 2-3 days without any nutrients in the medium.

Right now I'm working on getting my humidity up from a terribly dry 10% to at least 50%. Most I can get it now without a humidifier is 30° but it fluctuates and drops too quickly. Once I get a humidifier in the closet we will see how it helps. Ordering a 4X2X5 tent in two weeks so I can flower in that and keep the humidity in check!!

Ok enough ranting, here are some pics!

The leaves that look "chopped" grew in that way due to the FIM; they weren't burnt or damaged or anything.

NL seedling 10-19-13 -3.jpg Nl seedling 10-19-13 -6.jpg NL seedling 10-19-13 -7.jpg

She is exploding with the flowering/bud sights nearly overnight. I'm going to start LST'ing her to even out the flowering sites once she stretches enough to get to them. I guess that would be a couple weeks after 12/12? I don't want to stress her during flowering but I DO want to prune the lowest small branches that won't get any light. Guess I'll do that while in veg...at least 10-20% of the growth. I also want to take clones asap! Once she stretches a bit in 12/12...time to LST!!

Hey guys, I have a question:

"Flowering" time...does it count from the time the plant is switched over to 12/12? Or is when the plant is showing pre-flowers? I noticed pre-flowers a week ago, and Vision Seeds says it's 7-9 week blooming. I always figured to start the count at 12/12 switch, but I could be wrong!

More to come later. Stay tuned!!

* EDIT:*

With the grand advice of one of the threads here on RIU, I got the idea to place a wet towel in my closet a few hours ago. Duh! Closet...wet clothes...hanging....DITTO!

So I hung a wet towel in the closet where the growbuckets are. Then, I misted the plants right at the time of lights-off. My humidity skyrocketed from 17-20% to now 45% and still climbing!

I'm a happy camper, needless to say. We'll see how the plants respond in upcoming days...

Update!

So I decided to transplant her to a 1-gallon bucket. It could be bigger but I'm not sure. It measures 10" x 8" so I'm not sure. It's significantly bigger than the pot it just came out of. When I pulled the rootball out the roots were wrapped around the side like a big ball of yarn! The bottom of the medium had roots falling down like a slinky. It was pretty rootbound..should have transplanted sooner. Oh well, a lesson for next time.

Transplanted her into dry medium so the roots will find their way. Removed four lights from the growbucket so she can assimilate to the transfer overnight.

Day #31

NL seedling 10-21-13.jpg NL seedling 10-21-13 -2.jpg NL seedling 10-21-13 -3.jpg

This is right after the transfer. She's growing very quick and using up nitrogen quickly. Right now she's at 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. I'm going to feed again today and give her the same dosage. If she doesn't green up more after 3 days, I'll up the dose to 3/4 teaspoon per gallon. She could have not soaked up all of the available nitrogen due to being rootbound, so I'll wait a couple feedings and see what happens before I up the dosage. I want her nice and green with NO BURNS going into flower!

Hey, those are looking good. I did some NL #5 a few years back and it was great. This strain is advertised to finish in 55-65 days. I surprised by how long it took me, 81 days from the start of 12/12. I asked about it taking sooo long and got this reply:

hey ron.
what you experienced is a very common phenomenon. because in fact you should only start counting from the begining of when the plants start to flower, not from the day you flip the lights. the plants continue in veg state for about another week or two before flowers begin to apear.

So if yours takes a bit longer than you think it should don't stress about it.bongsmilie

Oh thanks! I expected to wait about 70 days once flowering started, so now I know to start counting a week or so after flipping the switch. I'm expecting it to be finished no earlier than 60 days after flowering, so hopefully I'll stay patient!

Update Time!

Thought I'd post a few pictures of her from the last week or so up to yesterday (10/31). Everything is still going pretty good so far; she's filling out the (new) pot rather nicely and is getting bushy as hell!

Day#41

________________________________

So I decided to do some LST because my grow bucket is running out of vertical space! I ordered a 4 x 2 x 5 tent for flowering from Ebay, and I'm waiting on it to arrive (Tuesday or so), before I switch to flowering. I didn't do any training on her to make her fit during flowering in the buckets, and I don't want to spend months waiting to get a low yield--I want her to grow as big as possible and put out as much as possible. So I figured a flowering tent will be perfect.

So moving on...... I LST'd to save space and try to get all the flowering sites level for maximum, intense light coverage. Don't laugh, it's my first time!

After LST....

She has adjusted well to the LST overnight. I will post some more pics later once I get back to her!
