I need some help, i want to prevent the flowering of my marijuana plants, i grow them by the window, they get plenty of light during the day but at night i was wondering if i could flash lights on them - turning the lights on and off several times to prevent flowering?

is this a good idea?

Consider getting a bulb over her to complete a light cycle of at least 18/6 18hours of light - 6hours of darkness to complete a 24hour cycle. As long as you can maintain this cycle she won't flower she will keep growing doh.

Bugging her with that flashlight is just gona make her produce seeds she's gona flower either way the days get shorter & those changes in light to dark hours make her produce we fruit. Yor just going to end up with seeds in your buds. (Worse case)

i have a seperate question....... is it ok to run an hps lamp all dya long? as in, use it in flower for 2 rooms moving it from room to room at end of each cycle, im aware of the annoyance in doing so, but just wonder if its ok to have it running 24hrs a day non stop??

Please don't jack threads.
It's possible it consider your system needs to stay cool so it can continue to work properly. From bulb & reflector to ballast & wiring. No more thread jacking.

im on a budget, i've read that some outdoor medical grows use white christmas lights that turn on and off every 2 hours during the night to delay flowering for months

so i was wondering does this work? or will it make unnecessary plant stress

as long as it doesnt get more than 11 hour straight dark period. you cant hermie it if its not flowering. at least in my experience.

yes, i re-read your question and i had a little trouble understanding what you meant. we were thinking you meant like flicker em(flashing the lights on and off in quick bursts) on and off several times throughout the night

yeah thats what i mean to clear any misgivings

I have a window sill with about 6 plants.

at various times during the night my lamp will turn off and on every 2 hours for 20 seconds.

is this a cost effective method to prevent flowering?

will this cause stress and herms?

i've heard of this method being used to delay flowering so i was wondering how effective it really is?

or if anyone has ever heard of this method.

need to leave it on for like an hour twice every night at least. 20 seconds wont do it
thanks for your advice - im just trying to save on the electric bill, and this is a medical grow.

its just im trying to get by with what means i have.

do you think i have to worry about potential herming>

dude, get like 2 42w 6500k 2700 lumens 2 for like 12 bucks at walmart and give them 24/0 light, 84w is nothing power wise, it wont effect your bill hardly. lotsa guys here run 500+ watts 24/0. you need a fan to blow on it too. you arent gonna yield enough for medical use though. since you got the card and its legal why not use hid lights? it will yield 20 times more than what you'll get if u stick with what your doing just in the windowsill. look in the faq how to set up a 400-600w hps grow box or in room design thread or grow journals or google.......
