I just read through your whole journal and I'm def not bored! Your grow space is really cool. I love the massive plants just taking over that space! I would love to grow Satori, just couldnt get my hands on seeds. I'll be readin your journal, good luck!
Hey man, thanks for stopping in and checking out my grow.

I got the seeds from worldwidemarijuanaseeds.com ( I just tried to go to their site, and now they require a password??)

If you're close to the southern california area, I'll give you a clone of my monster female. :joint:

Okay... can someone please give me advice on molasses? I'm using a 20 gallon res with about 15 gallons of RO water/nutrient solution. I got some molasses, but I'm not sure of the dosage that I should put per gallon.

I've been looking around, but havent found a good answer just yet, so advice would be very much appreciated.

here are some crappy bud pics... I still havent come up with a formula yet to get better photos. The kinks in the stem are from my supercropping experiment...

Here is my Superstar plant with only 3 weeks left to go.. .damn, kinda puny looking with not that fat budsites! doh! :

here's what I had to do to keep the fucking plants from falling over...

Yak, i just went to the kitchen storage area in walmart and got some round, 16oz containers with lids and used them for my net pots. I just used a cheap soldering iron to make slits and holes in them and they work great. I grew with a 4 site 30 gal rubbermaid and the pots were strong enough to hold up my 4'6" Kalichakra without any support. Just the one female, but it looked like I would not have any troubles with 4.

I did the whole molasses thing in my ebb and flow, I didn't like it. I switched to sweet leaf and that has worked better for me. Not as much shit floating around your res.

Papajock... more good info! It's actually too late for me to change the setup right now, because there is no way I could fish all those roots through another netpot.

What I ended up doing was drilling holes around the sides of the netpots, and putting little tiny zipties to keep the netpots from falling into the res. a pain in the ass, but it's working so far.

The aero tub I have that you see in the pictures... I got from F-Fletch, he did a good job building it, but there are a few things that I'd change in hindsight. I'm positive now that the setup is meant for SoG, not growing tall plants as I have done.

I do have the situation temporarily under control, I will post more on that later, along with pictures.

I am going to do some updates to this journal today, in this order....

1.) Clone Day and Day one of flower on my first ever batch of rooted clones!

2.) New equipment (excited!)

3) New system in the flower room.

4) Reports on the progress of the original 3 plants (2- Satori's 1- SuperStar)

Also, thank you to everyone who reads this journal and has helped me out... and that's all of you. I havent updated much because I've been a bit depressed lately... time to snap out of that shit!:blsmoke:

I found the answer for Molasses... 1-Tsp per Gallon...

I bought a jug of molasses at Smart and Final, so I'm going to use it for this grow, but later on when I can afford it again, I will switch to "Sweet Leaf".

I wish I could afford to do it now.... baby steps!

Thx for the help Blunted1

Okay, so my first ever batch of clones that I got to root and veg for a month seemed to be doing well, and it's time to put them into flower.

In the interest of experimenting, I've decided to try SoG... I set up an aero system and threw six plants that had been veggin' for about a month or so while my other plants flowered.

when I did my initial mass trimming for SoG, I figured it's the perfect time to grab 15 more clones for my clone bin.

Here they are before I hacked them to pieces... all six of them. (5 satori clones and one SuperStar from seed)

Hack Hack Chop CHOP!!!!!!!

man o' man did I ever have a lot of material to pick clone cuttings from......

Happy roots on a chopped up clone... I's happy too!

New things that I've bought for the flower room.

1) 600 watt digital balast switchable HPS/MH light with enclosed hood... six inch flanges.

High Tech Garden Supply

2) Goblin carbon scrubber filter and 260 CFM inline fan. Set up for 6" ducting.

3) I built an aero system out of PVC fence posts and a res... super simple.

Everything isnt installed yet, because I am lazy.. and stupid. BUT, it will be installed soon though (procrastinators mantra)

well... I've failed again.

they got pythium or some other such root bullshit, and they are dead/dying.

Growing used to be fun, now it's just flat out depressing.:?

you cant tell by the pic, but the roots are actually floating because of the rott.

so... I guess I cut and hang these plants all immature. is it even worth it? should I leave them in water for the remaining 2 or 3 weeks?

fuck.

drain and refill res, cut off all dead roots, and add 2ml per Liter of 35% H202...This is my best advice..Also keep water temps down...

Thanks man, but I already cut down the Satori plants, they were bigtime wilted and pretty much history. I changed the res and added SM90 and h202, the superstar seems to be doing okay, I'll probably cut it today though, as there are some amber trichs on it now.

here are the satori's before I hung them up to dry, that pile of tiny buds is going into a paper bag.

pretty shitty yeild for two plants that were doing well.

Another lesson learned. How was the smoke on your Satori plants? is it done being cured yet?

One great thing about Mandala's Satori, is that it clones very easily. I have roots on all of these fresh clones, that I took from the other clones that I'll also add a picture of:

and the clones that are now in flower:

Hey I'm growing Satori as well. I'm 4 weeks into flower now, how are yours coming along? You seeing a lot of different phenotypes?

Hi smartfood! we're about at the same stage into flower. Today my 6 plants are at day 33. This thread was about my very first grow, but I've been moving along and learning new shit all the while. I'm set up right now to harvest every 5 weeks. I'll explain my plan of action for that in another post.

Check out these pictures from today..

Smartfood, do you have pictures of how your satori are doing? how many plants do you have? what is your male/female ratio so far? Did you grow from seed or clone?

As for phenotypes, they all seem pretty much the same, I only had the two satori females that I grew and cloned, and I decided there's really no need for me to keep track of which is which to differenciate anymore, because all the clones seem to grow at about the same rate.

The tall plant in the picture you see is the SuperStar, pretty hard for me to clone so far, I get only about a 60% survival rate, as opposed to the 95% survival for the satori. I'm vegging two clones now of the superstar, and after they flower, I'm not going to grow that strain anymore. The phenotype turned out to be pretty sativa dominant, so the plant grows tall and thin.

Yeah I have some pics up. I grew from seed. Bought 10, 6/6 germed 3M/3F. I got 2 different phenotypes. One is more Indica (The only one of the 6) and the others are more Sativa-dominant (I had to bend over one of the tops to keep the plants close to the same height). I'm going to compare yield/smoke from them and decide which to use as a mother. I pulled 2 clones off of each plant. Some are proving easier to clone than others. If you look at my pics you'll see some with more prolific budding than others, those are the Chrystal. The ones with less budding are taller and are the Satori. Have a gander at the link in my sig.

well... I went and screwed up again.

I wanted to get the res out of the garage for the summer time, I plan on using a seperate AC unit to keep my grow room cool, so I figured the res would be better off in the ac controlled room than in the garage, which gets pretty hot during the summer.

this was a giant pain in the ass. I thought that these plants were nice and stable... WRONG, all they needed was to be tilted at 45 degrees to make all hell break loose. They held up fine on their own accord, UNTIL I disturbed them, so now I'm playing the ziptie game to try and get the fuckers to stay up straight.

I may have even fucked them up... time will tell.

Here is a picture that I took to try to compare bud growth to smartfoods bud growth, he and I almost started flowering at the exact same time.

these were taken a week and a half ago. After I post this, I'm going to take pictures of the mess I have now, and of the clones that you see a couple posts up that are ready to go into flower, but I need to do some redesigning of my area to accomodate them.:-?

I'm sorry to everyone on dialup that there are so many pictures in this thread.... but .. heh, here are more pictures. they say a thousand words!

if you scroll up to see the clones, here they are about a month later:

They are all doing really well. I did an experiment, and did one bin with just tap water, and one with RO. Same 3 part GH nutes... Oh, not sure if I mentioned, but I switched from fox farms, because I want to use H202, and I guess it's better to do that with chem nutes.

The clones are all from two satori plants, and one Superstar plant. I hate the superstar, it grows too tall, and is a pain in my ass, but everyone seems to think the smoke and high is great.

The res with RO water seemed to do better, but it is an aero setup, the other is just DWC. Plants look healthy in both reserviors, but the aero/RO one has nicer looking plants.

Another strange thing, is the leaves are HUGE. I thought the genetics were supposed to be exact, but the plants in the RO/aero bin have big leaves:

here are pictures after I moved my flowering plant's res:

and finally, two plants that I was going to keep as mothers, but I've been abandoning the whole mother thing, and decided just to take clones of the clones, and put the clones into flower, then after a month of the new clones vegging, flower them and take clones from them. I know if I lose a whole batch I'm fucked... but it'll force me to try a different strain!... and that's only IF.

p.s. sorry for the shitty photography, I just cant get good pictures with the lights on.

Here is a couple pics of my Satori/blue hash grow...the Satori is on the left, and is the BH on the right. The Satori takes me as long as 83 days to fully finish! The BH takes about 50, but the Satori will make up for the long bloom with forearm sized cola's. I expect this batch of Satori to finish @ day 65, this batch has had no hang ups from clone to now, so they are pretty much perfect...I ended up with three Pheno types, and I liked the mid hight plant for the way that I grow..Vegged to the hight of 18" I get a finished plant of about 36" with very heavy side branching. I take off about 1/3rd of the branches off the bottom, this works very well with most plants I have grown in my environment. I grow with 600w HPS, so I can't grow monsters, and I grow in buckets, so I can't do SOG, so the medium sized plant is what I shoot for... The blue hash is new to me, and I have not sampled the smoke, but the structure of the plant is so perfect for how I grow, so we will see how the finished product turns out, and I may have a new strain to keep around..Keep us updated, I hope you stop getting whammies! You always start very well, so at least you have that part dialed!GL

I just read your thread.
Bummer about the root rot.

I put some satori pollen
on one of this Purple Cindy's lower bud.

The seeds are fat.

So, have you smoked any of the satori plant
you had to chop down early?

.
