Definitely male. The small balls there are male flowers. Female flowers will have two white hairs sticking out of them ... you'll see on the other plants soon i guess. You could isolate the plant just before the flowers open (looks like a week or two for that one). When the flowers open you can shake the plant inside a plastic bag and save the pollen (white/yellow dust that comes out of the male flowers). The you have a bag of pollen. When you have a female plant in the room that is well into flowering. Pick a branch from the bottom of the plant that will not have any big bud anyway. Take a brush and dip it in pollen - gently brush the female flowers (white hairs) with pollen. After a day or two the pollinated flowers will have the white hairs turn brown telling you that she's pregnant. After 3-4 weeks seeds will be ripe - but just leave them until you harvest the plant - let it dry and harvest the seeds - if for nothing else then just because you can ;O))

they only appeared like under a week ago, do they really mature that quick?
does that mean i have the auto flower strain?
some of the "balls" look like they have stems below them, is that normal?
they are only under 3 30w 6500k cfls and 3 20w and below "warm" cfls - i am supprised that this coupled with 18/6 light cycle has prompted them to sex. or is that normal as-well? im gutted!

^Nah, it's not an auto-flower, it's normal for most strains to show preflowers, not long after the 4th week of veg.(whether 18/6, 20/4, 24/0, etc...) Also, the "stems" on the balls are normal, too. Actually, those are what I look for, when they preflowers are really small, because female preflowers(calyxs) don't have them, making them easy to distinguish from each other. If a preflower has a stem, it's going to be a sac. If it starts wide, then tapers to a point, it's going to be a female. Once in awhile you run into some that are iffy, but not too often. :)
