Male/female ratios in autoflower plants

Hi, I have been growing lowryder 2 for a while, and 1xgrow back I tried growing one in a pc case with a hps. (see sig for details)

Anyhow, I noticed then, i got far FAR more males than I ever did under CFL (including a big warm white 125w envirolight) - possibly a factor of two more males than I ever got before.

So moving on to this grow now, I thought id do it in a bit more of a controlled manner to try and see if it was luck or chance or my imagination.

6 plants in CFL, 6 in HPS. Seeds all from one plant, which has previously given me a 75% female ratio when under 20w warm white cfls.
HPS box is cooler by a large amount than the CFL box, apart from that, both are same soil/pots/seeds/nutes etc. (I have read high temps make more males, but the 75% ratio was in a box stuck at about 32c/90f so I tend to discount this, unless they meant detrimentally high temps)

At half way through week 2: Three of the hps plants are beginning to show sex, all of them male (males show first anyhow). None of the CFL plants are showing, but they are at equivalent levels of growth, which seems to indicate the HPS also promotes earlier flowering.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experiemented with different methods for higher numbers of females, and also wanted to air my results on this so people can comment.

I'll update when the females start to show also, but any comments etc would be welcome.
