Making sure my setup will work.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this list of items will work, and if I am missing anything
I plan to do a 12-12 from seed probably 16 small plants, but I'm not sure (if anyone has any recommendations let me know)

1x 4x4 Tent
1x 600W Ballast
1x HPS Bulb
1x MH Bulb
1x 6" Cooltube Reflector
1x 6" Carbon Filter
1x 6" Inline fan
1x little fan
And then stuff like nutrients, pots, seeds, soil, reflector hangers, and duct work.

Also how long do you guys usually wait for your seeds to arrive if you order them offline?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You'll need meters, ph & ec/tds
Ahh forgot to list ph equiptment as I was going to get that locally, ec/tds meters are for testing water correct?
You'll get more yield if you just grew 4 full plants than going 12/12 from seed..
I pretty much have to go 12-12 due to being on a limited amount of time, from previous research it seems 12-12 is the fastest method without clones
Do u need the mh bulb if ur doin 12-12 from seed?
I'm not sure, I don't think so actually, hopefully someone here can tell me for sure

Its faster just low yield... You can just run your hps the whole time...

I'm aware of the low yeild and wish I could just due a normal grow but I am limited in the amount of time I will be home, even 12-12 will be pushing it, and thank you for the info on the lights!

No prob.. Another thing, if your running 12/12 from seed, you'll want to start your plants in the final pot so you wont have any delay from transplanting..

i'm not sure if running that plants from seed like that will be a lower yield at all actually. you are basically running a SOG and that is one of the (if not the) highest yielding horizontal bulbs technique. for the most part you always get higher yields when running more plants that are smaller. check out del6666 and his 12/12 from seed thread. tons of great infor in there. it's in the indoor section i believe.

also, you won't need the MH light but if you can afford it then go for it. I would use it for the first few weeks until your plant shows sex. your plant is still in a vegetative state then and would benefit much more for MH lighting. as soon as she shows sex wait a week and then switch the light.

ya i think SOG 12/12 from seed is the way to go. i think you got most of it figured out. and you dont need to start them in their final pot like posted above. just wet your soil good and let it drain, and you can pull the whole root ball with all the dirt in the shape of the pot and transplant it like that and there will be NO shock at all and will continue to grow as normal.

Ahh I had read that before, but forgot thanks for reminding me

Thanks a ton for finding that link for me, would you say the MH is worth it? I can spend more if it will be worth it, but I also need to save where I can.

Is there any disadvantage to starting in the final pot? Seems like it would just be easier all around but there must be a reason id assume

if you are looking to save money where you can then just go with the HPS light. later on down the road you can drop $50 for an MH light as well.

there are some disadvantages to starting in bigger pots but in your situation i don't think it will matter. you're going 12/12 from seed so you'll probably only need a 2 gallon pot. if i were you i would start them in little 5" pots under T5 lighting if you have it. if not then CFL's cause the HID light will be too much for a seedling and if you keep it far away you might cause too much stretching. Then when they are about 8-12" and showing sex you transplant to 2 gallon pots and move them to HID lighting. just my opinion though.

Does anyone know how important flowering time is when buying seeds? If I mix seeds with a advertised flowering time as "0-8 weeks" and some with "8-14 weeks" will they disturb anything?

you really want to try and get seeds with the same flowering times in my opinion. different growth rates mean different nutrient solutions at different times for the strains. i never grow more than 2 strains at once cause it can just get to be a pain.

If I got all seeds with same characteristics (medium height, hybrids, 0-8weeks flowering) will that be fine? Or should I just play it safe and go half one strain half the other?

that would be a start. i just don't like doing to many strains because you will see that different strains like different nute level, heat, humidity, etc... you'll end up chasing strains all day long. fix one thing for this strain and then that strain will be showing problems. just kind of a pain.

Ill switch my plans to two or three strains, thanks for the heads up
