We will create a federal/provincial/territorial task force, and with input from experts in public health, substance abuse, and law enforcement, will design a new system of strict marijuana sales and distribution, with appropriate federal and provincial excise taxes applied.

This is one of my problems...do we really really need to delay this any longer?

all the talk is about legalization...can we just start with the patients please. those that are sick and use it as medicine should be a little bit ahead of those who just want a smoke to relax
why?
if we legalize it right, and get a good system that allows home grows; there's really no need to do any separate medical system.
i don't really put carded users on any pedestal above rec users though.. we all use it for a reason. and many card holders are better off health-wise than many uncarded users IMO. (epileptic with kidney issues here. but proud to never been uncarded. just lay low and supply myself ;) -thought the AR brutally abused, and the PR is obviously a joke)

nah, be nice for everyone to be treated the same. no more pick and chose BS.

Proud to be uncarded?

So your happy to say that if you were found growing 6 or more plants, you could do jail time just for medicating yourself?

I think there should always be 2 different systems in place. One for medical and one for rec. The fact you never got a card tells me you were either scared, misinformed, or broke. Everyone with a medical need should come first when it is decided who may grow. I wouldn't be surprised if of they ONLY let people with an actual medical need grow.... Rec users are more likely to abuse the system IMO

The issue then becomes who has a bonafide 'actual medical need'.
The guy with the stubbed toe would say it was him.
The guy with aids would say it was him.
Where would they draw the line on what qualifies as medical use?

of course i'm not.. but because that's such a backwards law, more than anything.
i'm proud to have never supported a system i saw brutally abused.. nor a system that rewards a select few profiteers.
very proud actually. *and quite happy with my route with the mess (MMPR) we're in now.. i'd be so nervous if i were a past MMAR user

i just couldn't be the guy sitting happily with my legal grow, while watching the neighbor get busted for doing the same thing.. and i wont be now either.

shouldn't make assumptions though.. i grew my own for years prior.
then when medical came about; felt i'd rather not be on a list, and have been fine so far -i'm from BC, BTW, so it's always been fairly lenient ;)
..then when medical blew up (and everyone and their granny got carded) i got some very lucrative offers to get carded and partner with a friend, or 'lease' my card out for $x.. and i saw the insane abuse of the MMAR. (kept me working full time trimming, but man the abuse i saw from people profiting off the sick was pretty disturbing)

i could/would never get a phony medical card.
always been my thought that partaking in a system is as good as saying you agree with it and find it just.. and i obviously don't. so can't.

if you abuse the system, you shouldn't be allowed in it..plain and simple but things are never that cut and dry.
if you grew for medical and went through proper channels but your neighbour is growing to make $$, why shouldn't they get busted? they are only doing it for $$.
anyone taking advantage takes away from the people that are in real need. just like insurance or prices for goods. because people lie and cheat, we all pay more.
i think people with a "need" should be ahead of those who "want".
there is and was abuse in the MMAR no doubt and that's a shame. i think if they reinstate it, there should be more checks and balances....but what would those be? show your Dr that you actually do use it? light up in his office? maybe test for THC to see the level in their system?
I'm blathering now so I'll stop

It's interesting to think in the Beginning the only people getting mmar were the ones who were in end of life care ... Personal production licences for someone who is bedridden....of course you need a designate....and they need to be paid for their service/materials ...who is paying them? The broke sick person laying in bed?

This is where I believe it all started ...

Ha-ha now I'm blathering!

As much as seeing a specialist was a pain in the ass, if you're legit it shouldn't matter until docs don't want to or can't participate.

at the end of the day it's a plant and anyone should be allowed to grow it in whatever quantity they see fit and for whatever reason, so long as they are not threatening harm to themselves and others. these are our inalienable rights as human beings, not as citizens of a particular country. where do we draw the line? should we put limits on the amount of books a person can possess? oh officer I'm sorry I thought there was only 6 books in my bag not 7 please don't send me to jail.
