I have to say I'm impressed. I was expecting this lamp to suck as much as its predecessor, with which I did two grows with mediocre results. That thing had 2 and a half by 3 feet footprint, advertised as 4x4. I guess I'm the sucker that financed the test products.

Then again, maybe this is another bullshit grow.

I disagree, par is a measurement of light intensity in the frequencies used in photosynthesis and light intensity, depending on the led efficiency, is completely determined by the wattage. Of course if your spectrum is off then more wattage will do little good, but assuming you have appropriate spectrum the wattage and area coverage are your limiting factors. Compared to an led at 12", a 1000 watt hid will cover at least 4 times the area. So, in terms of equal coverage area critical for good yields, you need at least 4 of these lamps for a total of 620 watts which is close to my estimate of 650 to 750 watts of led needed to realistically replace a 1000 watter.

the thing about l1000 watt is temp with a 1000 watt you are going to have a 10 degree difference with canape temp compared to ambient room temp. compared to led there is no difference your ambient is the same as your canape. plus with 1000 watt there is a lot of wasted spectrum due to missing spectrum's that are more abundant with led s. i have grown with magnum leds and the thc content was insane, off 600 watts i was just shy of a pound and the bud was optima.l i am now running the green guy leds and they are banging these cheese plants out so. i would defiantly say the leds are worth checking out due to the difference in heat you will make your money back on the cooling alone.
