lumins vs type of lights?

ok i can not afford a hps ballast so i have decided to use 2 300 watt ge crystal clear light bulbs that have a lumin rating of 6450 a piece so about 13000 lumins plus i have 2 cfl lights [27 watts i think equivalant to 100 watts] low between my plants and there surronded with a make shift aluminum foil wall and celing sould i be ok i have 3 plants about 3 ft tall 2 1/2 weeks into flowerpo

are those halogen? dont even waste your time, cfls use much less energy and are better at letting energy off as light than a halogen which has almost all the energy put out as heat.so you have to keep the lights further away and light becomes less effective the further it travels, so your losing almost all the lumens by the time the light reaches the plant, paint the walls flat dull white, its more reflective and doesnt cause hotspots. If you dont want to take my advice thats fine, but your going to be very disappointed in the end when all is said and done, very disappointed.

i asked for advice 4 a reason lol i know mh or hps r the best i have riged my lights 3 inches from plants with 2 fans and no signs of burning but you say white walls is better than foil ok ill paint this weekend any suggs on my lights though

bro, you are gonna waste more in 4 months using those things than how much it would cost to invest in a hps or you could get a bunch of cfls, halogen is EXTREMELY inneffecient. I would reccomend you go get some y splitters and a few 4 or 6 packs of 26w(bigger if you can afford them, not under 23w though, smaller than that are not effective enough) cfls, 1 box red spectrum(around 2700k, soft white) and 1 blue spectrum box (around 6500k, bright white/daylight/full spectrum.

lights have a color spectrum, its measured on the kelvin scale(thats what the k at the end of 6500k or 2700k or any other number is when discussing lighting spectrum. at 2700k its more red colored light , 6500k is more blue colored.

i'd get a 6 pack of blue and a 6 pack of red.

r they really just red and blue lights can i get those in a 65 watt

their spectrums are also classified by name,(i.e.daylight, cool white, soft white, etc.) daylight and cool white are blueish in color and are beneficial to the cannabis plant in the vegetative stage, and soft white and warm white, are more orang-ish in color, and are beneficial to cannabis plants in the budding stage...
