Lumens of the sun...

I dont think anyone does :P but I'm sure you can find out the average amount of lumens that hits a square foot or square meter. I googled the average lux in america, which is the average amount of lumens per square foot, and came up with nothing, I tried a bunch of other ways of googleing it, still nothing, but I'm sure its somewhere in google world

Sorry, but you're incorrect, tckfui. The lumen output of the sun is well known and documented, down to latitude and time of day.

Damn that took a while. Fucking search function sucks. :x
I think it would be slightly better to hit a person with actual, verifiable facts than just requoting an unverified answer from this forum. ;)
How Many Lumens Does the Sun Produce [Archive] - CandlePowerForums
About 130W/sq' How Bright is the Sun?
A good search term (I just discovered after a little more than 2 seconds of searching) is "solar constant". Thing is, EVERYTHING an indoor grower is trying to do is MIMIC THE SUN. So... no need to be concerned with spectra, lumens, output, etcetera unless one is growing in a shaded area. :)
SnackTalk - Snack Discussion Group: Re: Lumens (fwd)

The final answer, in lumens, is that the sun gives off approximately 10,000 lumens/sq.f (lumens per square foot, also lmn/sq').
:)
Now that's what I'm talkin' about. FUCK, I love science! I am SO glad I was born for the here and now and not centuries ago when all this shit had to be explained by religion alone, Christ, like living in the Dark Ages, MAN that had to be fucked, I mean, they were dark, ya know? (And for more reason than one, but that's a whole other story.)

we know the lumen output of the sun as a hole?
or just how many lumens hit each part of the world?
I was saying we know how much hits each area of the world, but knowing how many lumens the sun puts off as a hole, like a lighbulb, is probably unknown, but its probably known, I just dont see how that would help anyone, it would be a cool little fact to know though.
good info, Benjamin Franklin said one of his few regrets in life was not having been born 100 years later :P I always felt the same way

why is "my riu" not showing threads I subscribed to!!!!

It is only really pertinent as it affects us on earth, but I am fairly certain that if you hit some astronomy boards or the like that somewhere that whole solar lumen output has been calculated. :)

What is more pertinent, to me as an outdoor grower anyway, is lumen output at a given latitude AND time of day.
