lumatek 1000?

ok sorry if this question has been asked before or if you consider it a newbie question but i am a newbie anyways i got a friend who has been know to have some fisherman tales and he told me he is running 2 600w bulbs off a single lumatek 1000w ballast in the superlumens mode and that the single ballast will strike both lamps at the same time and run them both just fine and i was just wondering if anyone here has ever heard that or tried it i currently am running a quantum 1000w digital ballast and bulb and was also wondering if my ballast would be able to strike and run 2 600's at the same time

I actually saw an adapter at the hydro store for that. Not sure if it works with all ballasts but I don't think it even needs to be super lumens. But I can confirm 1 1000w ballast can run 2 600 watt bulbs if u have the right equipment. Thx for reminding me of that I think I mig do it.

Yes there is a cordset called the splitter from Life Light Systems that you can plug into your 1000w ballast, which splits into 2 reflector receptacles, in which you can hook up 2 reflectors running 600's. Obviously your not going to be pulling 1200w through the 1000w, but your splitting what energy you are pulling in half towards each lamp.

Your buddy most likely has a 600w dual lumatek. This is a single lumatek ballast which is basically 2 600w lumateks fused together. It runs on 240v only, but you can run 600w's off of it for a total of 1200w.

Actually with a little more research I noticed sun pulse makes a splitter that works with sun pulse bulbs. Lumatek is considered a compatible ballast.

The guys at the hydro shop work on commission. They always offer up the expensive items first, especially bulbs.

For the same price of a splitter you can get a dual 600w Lumatek or two separate 600w lumateks...

Dual is $270. Last time I saw a splitter it was ~$300, $300 + the cost of the 1000w ballast to run 2x500w versus 2x600w for much cheaper.

That's exactly what I use. I highly rec'd. Doesn't fuck with my cable/modem and doesn't run CMH very well for long but...I bet it's easier to cool or less warmer than running two individual 600s.

I just checked... this is the first line in their description

Split every 1000w HPS lighting system (with magnetic ballast) into two 600w
SunPulse lighting systems!

Looks like you need a magneti ballast

i saw a sun pulse splitter cord on ebay for 68 bucks buy it now price and free shipping in the u.s. but it said it was for magnetic ballast still havnt priced one for a digital ballast but i think ill prolly just go with the dual 600 ballast i wanna run 3 600's and my 1000w with a metal halide bulb in my grow room was just looking for a cheaper way then buying 3 more ballasts
