Lowryder Grow Question

So yeah... about a week ago, I thought my plants were flowering/ showing sex. It just turns out that what I thought were the "hairs" or pistils that I was looking for were actually stipules. So here is my questoin: tomorrow marks day 28 (4 weeks) for the oldest and day 24 for the youngest. Should there be clear signs of sex and flowering for a Lowryder at this point yet?

If there should be, do I need to switch it to 12:12 in order to attempt to "induce" it to show and then switch it back?

Please, only advice from people who know about Lowryder specifically. Thanks :peace:

i have the lowryder #2 and mine auto flowered under 24/7 lights.. i now have them in 12/12 kinda saves money and i have a kush plant in there and it needs to be under 12/12 to flower.

lowryder is autoflowering though.. and just put your face right up to the plant and look REALLY REALLY close i spotted white hairs on all of mine so far.. i think right around how old yours are now.. even some that are under my veg right now are showing signs of hairs and there still tiny and young. some only have like 2-3 hairs but im almost 99% positive they will be female.

the plant will show when it's ready. the veg stage for my first grow took really long too. if the plants encountered any stress and had to bounce back, their growth would have been slowed.

pics? they'd help

Well... I mean, one of them is COVERED in fine white hairs, almost like velvet. Everywhere on the skin of the stem. But I figure that is just part of how it grows right? This same plant smells too, so Im sure it will be a female when it feels like showing me. Im not seeing any little balls or long hairs at the base the stem at the nodes though and I looked very hard.

I guess with diesel it could be nice.. I just had an experience growing a few lowryder and uhh I guess I don't want to post it because I don't want to seem extremely negative :?:?

I did replant one of them and switched some of the lighting up... I had two cool whites and one "plant and aquarium" bulb (im working with fluoros) and then I switched it to one cool white and two warm whites. Could that stress it enough to slow the sexing?

I'll throw some pics up ASAP

Bad news is better than no news at all. Go ahead. Maybe you will say something helpful?

ok well first im super high, liek more high than i usually am on these boards this iz some crazy sativa 4real.. but my last grow was purple kush and only 2 joint doctor's lowryder..

grown in the same conditions as the amazingly potent purple kush that i came out with that grow the lowryder stayed extremely small which of course its suppose to do but it takes almost the same amount of time to grow giving the pk a decent veg time which makes no sense at all.. If it did what it falsely claims it does which is stay short and finish extremely fast it would have been better than just a waste of light but to me it really was a complete waste of time growing that shit..

basically the biggest misconception I think people have about it is the time it takes from seed to harvest, takes much longer than some of the sites say 60 days or some shit lol yaright.

I waited to try the bud until about a week into curing and it was disapointing.. it has a strong scent for sure which is nice but for some reason I didn't like the taste and the potency compared to the other strains that i've grown in the same conditions isn't even comparable. I moved all of it that I had the following week.. I ain't sayin its bad shit just saying compared to real strains you just can't compare it lol. Also if someone was growing this shit as there first grow and not used to smokin the chronic then you will still be happy come harvest time.

Now I think I would have a totally different view on lowryder crosses because if you can cross lowryder with a really nice strain and pick up the 24 hour autoflowering trait along with the stalkyness you could have yourself a nice strain.

use as many cool daylight (~6500k color temperature) as you can until they start showing sex, then put them under as many warm daylight (~2700k) for flower. the red spectrum given off from the warm lights is crucial for flowering but will interfere with vegging and cause i higher instance of male/herms. the blue specrtum from the cool daylight is all you want for veg, it should make for nice dark leaves and plenty of them stacked really nicely assuming temperatures are ideal.

here is my current low ryders.. the one in the BACK right is a kush and its freaking growing so fast since i stuck in flowering.. 6-8 inches in 5 days

i noticed a couple hairs when it was maby 6-7 nodes.. took awhile for it to start really budding though.. but there under a 400hps light.. the kush is showing alot of hairs as of today.

my camera screen is broken and just stays black or i would snap some pictures of the white hairs on the kush plant just starting. like long white/yellow hairs

Thanks all for the advice. I went ahead and switched back to the previous lighting set up (two cool whites and the aquarium). Tomorrow morning I'll run out and get another cool white so I can optimize. As far as strains go, I already picked it and I need my weed to be small and hidden, so I have no regrets. Its supposed to be an easy grow, which is perfect for my first time.

I'll admit, I'm skeptical about potency, as I do smoke nothing but the most potent herb, but my next plan is to grow lowryder-hindu kush, which actually is only 14 inches tall and is supposed to be nearly as good as kush. "an indica lovers dream". I love Indicas, so this is my dream, lol

i read that lowryders don't like a full serving of nutes(as in even less than regular weed plants)... i'm going to hold back a little extra with my diesel ryders just in case. other than that i guess they grow twice as fast so you have half as much time to screw things up.. haha just joking. yeah, lowryder was designed to be grown by anyone anywhere.

...maybe even an urban outdoor guerilla grow???

Yeah. I honestly think that this strain is VERY valuable, if not for its genetics alone. Already, we are starting to see lowryder being mixed with scores of other strains with good results. In my opinion, it could revolutionize the way the average man with little space has access to marijuana. Many people are using this plant to cut the dealer out and grow enough for personal use.

9 weeks from seed is really impressive finshing time too. you could run almost nine full cycles a year if you had a seperat box for veg.

most of the pics of diesel ryder i've seen here, even from growers with only a little more experience than me, look like superchronic. the ak47 hybrid is really popular too so it must be at least decent. i can see the day where they have 'best autoflowering variety' as a category in the CC.

I'm waitin a few more weeks for some current plants to finish, but after them I got 5 lowryder2xak47's to work on. dO THEY REALLY FINISH IN 70 DAYS? I can't wait!!! YUM!!!

Lol... I dunno. Im hoping mine get finished by that time. They are kind of almost too big for my box at this point, so I am having to force them to flower this week. Wish me luck!

Sorry but 9 weeks from seed won't happen (not even close), like I said earlier the only really false claims lowryder makes is finishing time. Mine stayed really short and one thing I forgot to give credit for is the density you can achieve with this strain, the potency isn't up to par with any of the well known great strains but it does stay short and makes some dense nugs. I didn't like the smell or taste and the high wasn't up to my standards but hey for someone with extreme height conditions this is perfect.

Here's a pic of one drying Lowryder, next to it is Purple Kush.

Meh. I've had herb at sea level and at the top of a mountain and it does not make a difference, especially since where I am has VERY dank herb compared to most places in my part of the world.
