Lowryder #2 & Purple Wreck WTF!!

Hey, my friend who I'm helping, set of wit 8 lr #2 and 6 Germed and 2 failed to sprout, anyways everything was going great for first 6 days then all of a sudden plants are starting to die each day and is really getting me & him worried now coz im also helping him a bit but have never seen anything like this...

So anyways, we are now down to 2 lr #2 & 1 Purple Wreck... Really dissapointed that they are dying... anyways listen me out and see if you can figure whats going wrong.

He's using a budbox tent and has a 250 watt hps and 18 inch high velocity fan with appropriate ventilation equipment.

Temps are going between 29 -32 degrees and even higher sometimes... but they are all looking the same the seedling goes all wilted then a few hours later it looks really dried up :s really is confusing me... Temps are not a problem I think because most of the time it stays at 29...

the stems when they die look like they are kinda just drying up whilst the leaves still remain to look healthy :s

I was unsure if it was stem rot at first but then i thought about it and i only ever water them when lights are off so watering them and having on the same time I know may have caused what ever is happening..

Please leave a comment and help is really appreciated and we are only down to 2 lr #2 now and looking like it may fail this grow :s

Purple wreck on the other hand is growing everyday and is it usually normal for pw seedlings to have a pinky/purple stem?

There have been issues with grow tents that give of harmful gases when heated (with the light). Try removing them from the tent for a bit, see if it makes a difference.

This is a Genuine budbox tho, I also have heard that but it's usually the grow tents of ebay and its usually the cheap/fake ones. Thanks for input tho... Really is a mystery... :?::-(

Could be a Ph problem with the water, The PH is best around 7. What are you watering them with? Ive heard of this problem before

No Problem Man, Just a shame the babies are dropping like flies once what started as a bit of help is now becoming a very mysteries and edgy time ...

I also forgot to mention... strictly speaking 1 of them aint dead so I really have 3 lr #2 But that was showing same signs as the other ones that died but I pulled it out of there quickly as soil was bone dry... I gave it a shit load of water then put into a different room... so possible I could still pull through with 3 lr #2 but chances are looking slimmer and slimmer every minute :s

I'm water with tap water, when I look on water boad a while ago, my area had soft water or something along those line and they said with average ph of around about 6 from my area... but.... that still don't mean nothing... and could well have a ph problem and I also have been watering with lukewarm water that has been boiled in kettle and pour in glass till it's chilled to about room temperature...

Thing is tho if it's ph problem, would the rest thrive? or would they show same signs... as they all are getting fed with same water but few are thriving whilst the rest of the babies are dropping like flies

I'm going to sound stupid saying this, but, are you placing your seedlings very close to your fan or ventilation system, perhaps they are actually just drying out.

i have heared the salts in soft water can harm your plants....i have soft water at my house and my first plants died when i used it so i went and started getting distilled water which has a PH of 6.3 which is perfect for soil

My friend keeps them at least 12-16 inches away from fan tom, I will see how far it is away when I'm around next... need to keep these babies alive coz at the end i will get a lil something ;) but the way these babies are dropping maybe I will get nothing :s who knows which ways it's going to go at the min :s

Kush would you recommend then I stay with distilled water?

yeah man at this point it sounds like you should just try one thing at a time....maybe just give them distilled water with superthrive? idk i have never used it but i have heared of it bringing plants back from the brink of death so its worth a shot really....like i said soft water killed my plants cuz my new batch is healthy and growing some juicy buds for me

There is your problem. Ideally you want your temp to be between 22-25C. I noticed early signs of heat stress with my LR2 at 29C and I considered 30C borderline danger zone. If your ventilation is really up to the job then all I can recommend is a cool tube (there are DIY sections on the FAQ) or your lower the ambient temperature of the intake air. Meanwhile, a "ghetto" very temporary solution is to put a couple of those 4pint milk jugs filled with frozen water.

I am gonna stat using distilled water from now on, better to be safe than sorry.

A bit of good news tho, my 1 and only purple wreck is still seedling but giving of a freshly mowed lawn kinda smell.... so hopefully that good be a decient yield.

im also growing pw right now and yes a couple of them started off with purple stems how close is your light? you dont want it 2 close unless its air cooled, i give my seedlings rhizotonic from the time they sprout and if they sprout they dont die

well u said that the purple wreck is doin fine but the lowryder seems to b the problem, hmmmm...it could jus b ur seeds bro, (bad genetics, old seeds or sumn) make sure it isnt ph, jus because u fix it every once n a while doesnt mean that more impurities arnt breaking down in your water as it sits n causes ur ph to b unstable (its happened to me a few times, make sure if u have a ph meter that is it calibrated correctly as this could b ur problem too), ur doin the same type of feeding and everything else for ur purple wreck as your doin for the lowryder right? n the purple still seems to b thriving?, n u said he has proper ventilation, fresh air intake the whole nine?, jus suggesting a few things to knock off the list, u should make one, try every different variable u can think of, see what happens...thats all i got for ya pimpin...lemme know if u find out what the deal is...chuch lol
