The buckets are pretty thick and grey, do I need to tape them or seal them so light doesn't leak through the plastic into my res?

You don't need to do anything to the Lowe's buckets and the lids are way better than the HD ones imo.

I bought 6 today there.. and nothing else. Didn't even get a funny look! At just over 4 bucks a piece with lid and tax.. can't beat it. It's even silvery to reflect some light.

Hey guys thanks for all the replies. Appreciate it. Just saved me buying spray paint and/or foil taping the buckets.

few layers of the flat white might do it, personally I say get some Shurtape AF 100 and wrap them once and your set.DSC02818.jpg

Here's some Lowe's buckets wrapped in Solar Protection insulation. There are many variations for lightproofing...just depends on how much work you wanna do I guess ;)

Wow! Great suggestions all of you. I'm still fighting a heat issue right now in cab, but its been over 85-90 degrees for the last 60 days(unusual for my area), so I have some time to figure out the buckets and what I will do. I do appreciate all of yours help.
