Lowering THC in Extract

I have an odd question: does anyone know how to lower THC in an oil extract? I made a huge batch of olive oil extract from three strains mixed together: Girl Scout Cookie, God's Gift and Harlequin. The grower said it would be a 70% CBD mix like last year, but it turned out to be very THC heavy. I have shared it with several experienced users who agreed. Lots of hallucinations and little sleep. I am helping a friend who has just found out she has a very scary endometrial cancer and she needs more CBD and less THC. Any ideas?

while in solution set it in the sun or under your hid lighting, depending the concentration it will turn bright red.
you could also use heat to break it down, how most people make crockpot cannabutter is perfect. not too high of temps, extended time period.
thc is much more sensitive than cbd, cbn is not directly produced from thcs breakdown.

why do you think cbd is what your looking for?

not exactly sure what you mean by a 70% cbd mix? was your startinf material a concentrate? if your just looking to make it weaker you could just add more olive oil to the mix. letting it sit in the sun ia a good way to degrade thc, if you let a strong alcohol tincture sit in the sun it getsa crazy red colour to iit. another thing you could do, would be to heat it to degrade thc (watch your temps). id recommend heating in a pressure cooker just to be safe as far as too high of temps go.

The patient needs CBD to work on ld-1 and other mechanisms of her aggressive cancer, from what I can gather. I also would like it to sleep.

It was a 70% CBD mix of plant matter. I made the cannabutter in a crockpot. Will use the sun. Thanks

ok, if this person is telling you that the plant material is 70% cannabidiol they are lying to you.

the only thing I can think of that makes sense is maybe 70% of the plant material present came from plants that were supposedly containing an above average c.b.d. content.

Yes the plant matter was not 70% CBD. It was much more THC heavy this year. Not a lie but a miscalculation.

do you honestly believe 70% cbd to be possible in even the best bud?
I mean 70% of the activated part. So 70% CBD and 30% or less THC. The grower wasn't trying to mislead me, he believed Girl Scout Cookie was an Indica dominant strain that was more sedative and maybe more CBD heavy than it is.

Does anyone know if an ultra-violet light water purifier like a Steri-pen will do the same thing as the sun in breaking down THC to CBN? Maybe speed up the process in the Winter.

I mean no offense but I feel that you may have a very loose handle on the chemical aspects of the plant.. I dont even think I scratch the surface of things to be known about it but to start, in the plant itself you will most likely have higher concentrations of THCA and CBDA.
these two specific compounds are in their carboxylic acid form and are not going to be orally active to begin with. this is where the decarb step comes into play to convert the THCA and CBDA into THC and CBD (roughly among orher biproducts as well im sure).
also there are so many other compounds that contribute to the medicinal value of the product that you wouldnt end up with an even split between thc and cbd.
another thing is that an indica isnt going to give you more CBDA than it will THCA just because its an indica. for example i have a strain called CBD shark shock (courtesy of the vault seedbank) that supposedly produces a 1:1 ratio of CBDA and THCA. and even that strain has some sativa bred in along the way considering its not 100% indica.

just some things to think about. i recommend you do some broad searches on rhe different compounds in cannabis and see what theyve been scientifically found to contribute to the overall effect, many of them synergise with each other as well.

as to your question about the uv lamp, im.not sure if it would work the same, if you want to speed up the process you should just put it on a low heat for a long time. note that no matter how you do this the end product will be quite the sedative.
