Yeah, it will cause stunted growth and won't allow some nutrients to be absorbed. Well that is for smaller plants, I dunno about older plants I think some people in the last 2weeks of flowering lower the night temps to bring out the purpleness and colors of buds.

i disagree w/ your stunting/nute uptake claim, my plants stay around 77f then go down to about 65f and the buds are so fat and thick they make my eyes bulge everytime i take them out of the dark cycle. although mine are 4 months + 5feet tall, but i still dont think small plants should be too badly affected. i think it really all depends on what the original temp was, if your plants were at 85 degrees then down to 60 for night, the 25 degree change *might* barely affect them. i know a few of my buddies grows were around 75f then 60f at night and the weed was so incredible it made alot of high times buds look like shwag. i dunno about that whole affect you claim it has on nutrient uptake, i dont believe it - id say there needs to be *atleast* a 25-30 degree drop in temp for the plant to care.

on another note, i do agree with you on the notion that a significant temp flux might very well make them a little uneasy - but i wouldnt say for sure that it does both of the things you say; the levels of temp AND the levels of temp fluctuation need to be high as shit and random as fuck for the plant to seriously say "HEY WTF!!" hehe.

lowering temps can indeed turn the bud purple. according to what i know, since THC production is actually a defense mechanism of the plant, i would say lowering temps would actually be beneficial - just not by more than 10-15 degrees. try to keep your plants from going below 65, they might actually be kinda cold at 14C (57f or somethin close)
