Low-tech CFL Grow

The two seeds I put in soil are just barely starting to break the soil surface, and the third popped bean has a tiny root just starting to show. No change on the other three beans yet...but I like my 50% germination rate for bagseed already :) Unfortunately my first bagseed grow years ago turned out 75% male so I hope I get more girls.

I really hope my cloning attempt works. I have cloned houseplants before with fairly decent success. Then I will try some known genetics...I really want to try "Full Moon" by Nirvana...a trippy sativa sounds awesome. But my ultimate goal is to have a pure sativa, a pure indica, and a hybrid in a perpetual grow setting, that way I can get different smoke for whatever the occassion calls for ;)

Great idea! I'm thinking about doing the same as soon as funds allow me to purchase some more seeds!

The biggest bean popping...I hope ya'll don't mind me posting so much, but I find this is the easiest way to document my grow almost daily.

That seedling is marked "A" and is currently 3" from my 125 watt CFL. It's quite warm at that distance so I already have the fan blowing across it. The other two seeds that popped and are in the soil have shown no change, they are making me a bit nervous. The final three beans are still in the germination cup and have all swelled, but still haven't cracked. How long should I wait on the germing seeds untill I deem them unviable?

Just started germinating 3 more beans since I don't think the others are viable. I will leave the old ones go another day or so, but am seeing a bit of a greenish tinge on some parts of the paper towel.

I planned on going 3 weeks before planting in a larger container, but I see a tiny root starting to come out of the drainage hole... so would doing it now have any positive/negative effects?

cool thread man....nice little set up you got there...keep posting....

Just curious...once they pop out of the soil and are like half an inch high, how close should the light be (6500k cfl) ?
