Hi RIU,

This is my second grow journal. After learning lots of lessons in soil, I've moved to Deep Water Culture (DWC) or Bubbler system.

2/26 - I planted the 6 seeds into barkplugs, inside of rockwool.

3/8 - plants doing well.

3/11 - checked roots, looking healthy. Need another airpump & airstone(s).

Thus far, I have been very suprised by the plants quick vitality. I will do my very best to keep you updated as the plants progress.

2/26 - The seeds going in.

3/8 - Seedlings staked.

3/11 - Seedlings looking perky after Fox Farms Grow Big. One plant (back left) looks deformed. Thinking about replacing/cutting it.

There will be more to come.

I think you mean fox farms grow big not tiger bloom, don't you? Tiger bloom is for flowering phase. Looks good other than that!

Just a quick update; the roots are all looking good except for the deformed plant which is back left. I'm probably going to throw it out.

Thanks for checking in, look for more soon!

Sup RUI,

It suprises me how widely spread our culture is; seems like every day I hear about someone who smokes who I never thought would - or a grower or other person. I keep reminding myself that some people in society frown on what we do as 'harmful'.

New shit - this week I bought a Sunleaves TDS pen, finally. I also just got my pH kit, which is shitty I know, but they looked okay until...

The girls are having a problem this week, the leaves are curling up.

The nutes look good, 6.0 which is between then 5.5-6.5 the bottle suggests. I read on the FAQ that 5.2 is best for hydroponics and nute uptake, anyone have a recommendation?

Porn for you:

Since these plants went in the hydro on Feb. 26th, how are they looking? Any ideas about the burns on the leaves?
Thanks Roll It Up, I love ya'll.

BUMP I NEED HELP~!!!

fa1te - 35 gal RubberMaid.

I checked the nutes this morning, and they are still at 1,000 so the plants are not using up their nutes. The ph is still the same around 6.

1,003 + 97ppm from the tap water.
I think because i went from a low nutes, to a high nute, I burned them.
I'm going to flush, then add pH'd water.

Hi, I had the same problem.. Lower your nuts to 500ppm and pH to 6.1 I found this to work wonder's for me.. When i went up to 1000ppm I messed my plants up with lock out only with 300ppm jump, but ofcouse depends on strain..
I dont know if thats a lockup, how long has that leaf took to dry out? If it took some time and no other sign of damge to otherleafs, dont think it;s lock, but maybe damge to root? Have u done anything to your system? Maybe change res and do damage to plant roots? That were I would start, then think maybe what you did differntly from your frist res application..
1000ppm isn' going to kill plants but just make sure your strain can handle it and that your plants are on week 2 at least!!!!!!, I would only do it if I was going to veg longer then 4weeks, 5-6 Ideal in DWC and you create big plants worth flowing under 1000WHPS :)

Stiffy,

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
I emptied all the water out of the RubberMaid bucket, and then cleaned out the inside with water, and 1/4 cup of bleach. Then I rinsed the RubberMaid out, and refilled it with water.
After that, I added nutes, bringing the TDS to 330.
I also added 1tbls of Hydroguard/gal.

Hopefully, it was just nutelock. Tomorrow morning will tell. If I am correct, the plants should drink a lot of the fresh water, so I'll check the water level again in the morning.

ps changing my water is a bitch! There must be an easier way.

Yea, your nutes were way too high. You should end up at the end of your grow at about 1500ppm, starting from about 200. So you're right on schedule now. Good luck.

Yea water change suxxx, try to keep it simple. I use my old saltwater pump with a 5/8 hose attacthed and drain my res in 2 mins lol. I then have the same res size beside it were I pack my 5gallon buckets down to the res tank and pour my 5g buckets into the extra tank. I mix my solution and then for additional mix, pump it into my regulor res tank.. Well BTW my reg res tank has the holes drilled in it anyways (its attached to the system)

This is how I do Rez change at the moment. its very low tek but works quite well.

I have two Rez's with plants in and a third, which is empty.
When it comes to doing a Rez change I fill the spare rez up with water and correct the temp to 19c,
I then add my nutes and additives and let it sit for an hour,
I then PH the rez and let it sit for anouther hour,
I then check the PH and PPMs again.
All being good,
I pull one of the Rez's out from under the light and swap the lid (Which holds the plants) from that rez to the fresh one and push this back under the light.

This system works well and is probably the cheapest way of doing it. I am currently working on a automated Rez system for multible Rez's but that will take some time.

Thanks to the help and advice provided by ya'll, I've overcome the challenges I faced with nute burn! I am very thankful to those who gave me advice, and also the FAQ section.

The plants are taking off! In the last week they've grown 3-5 inches, and the root system has explosed. I'm down to 4 viable plants though, and I've not sexed them.

PPM is 600, and they are drinking aprox 1.5 gallons of water every 2-3 days. I'm amazed they can drink this much water.

I am starting them in 12/12 lighting on Monday night after a rez change.

Temperature control in my closet has been a PITA because I have a blanket covering the opening to the closet, to keep light from escaping. During the day though, I open the closet and let the heat out. I'll have to figure something out. Hopefully the 12/12 will give it (the closet) time to cool.
I have 1 10" fan blowing across the top of the plants, which helps tremendously.

My room also reeks with that sweet sexy skunky smell - but nice as that is, I need to address the odor issue to keep from being exposed.
Baking soada is probably going to be the remedy.

I can't wait to smoke!

PORN

This plant is great; s/he has fantastic close growth nodes!

Once again, thank you RIU. I'll keep everyone posted. For now, I would really like to get some comments or any suggestions you may have - nutes, lighting, water ect?
