Lottery Addiction

I witnessed it tonight. Stopped at the gas station on my way home to get a coffee and a middle age woman was berating the clerk for being the only one working because apparently he only sells her losing tickets. She was dead shit serious and pissed that he was the only one there. Know anyone with a problem? I found the whole spectacle quite sad really.

The elderly around here seem to have a real problem. I always see them at the gas station either cashing in a stack of tickets or buying a larger stack of tickets.

I saw one guy buy $200 worth of scratch off tickets one time. I used to buy one scratch off a week when I got paid, but I haven't won anything in forever and the most I ever won was $100.

my ex gf's old man would go down to ac on a friday night, and not return until sunday night, week in, week out, for the entire seven years we dated, and would come home each week, broke as a joke..
she said when she was younger he won enough money to buy a car or won a car or some shit, and got bit by the bug, bad.. it was rather sad.. never had any money to go towards the house or anything, but would get comp'ed rooms for his dedication i guess..
my, i never really got into gambling as if it weren't for bad luck, i'd have no luck at all.. and on top of that, i already have a super addictive personality, so i know it'd be a long, dark road to brokeville.. i have never won shit, so i never really got that rush i guess one gets when they hit it big, so i never really found gambling to be thrilling to say the least.. i can think of 100 ways i'd rather waste my money than to give it to some casino or w/e it may be..
plus, i'm smart enough to realize that casino's aren't in business to simply give away money..

and my one nephew was buying tons and tons of scratch offs. he totalled his car a year or so ago, and when he cleaned it out, holy hell, i've never seen such a big pile of losing lottery tickets in my life.. he hits once in awhile, but i'm sure it's no where near enough to cover his loses..
my sister is taking him to vegas i think this month for his 21st bday, i guess that'd be akin to my mom taking me to the shooting gallery for my 21st.. :D

I know a few guys. They spend 100-200 a week probably. Or even more.

So if when they do win they just come out even. But they buy dooghnuts so its good.

But they do have a problem. All they talk about are the fuckin daily numbers and scratchers. Then complain about being broke.

My buddies father got a second job just to support his $400-$600/wk keno habit..IDK if that's bad or good that he was at least conscious enough to know he need a way to support the habit..I'm going with bad..because he doesn't put any money into their house/cars/etc, gives his wife a $50/wk "allowance" which is supposed to be her free spending money as well as the money for shopping and household stuff..he's a winner.

when I still worked, a group of us (about 10), would play the state lotto twice a week for years and years and never won shit. pretty much cured me of buying lotto tickets.
At least i think you had the right idea about increasing your 'chances' of winning a big pot. I noticed how those clubs often won and split up the proceeds.

I like to play occasionally and like to think how I'd spend it. Its worth the 5 bucks. My uncle won 100,000 but he plays between 50 and 100 dollars a week...too rich for my blood. If I do ever win the big prize Ima go back to school and be a perpetual student.

If you can find a way to live economically near a campus, just start taking student loans for 20 years while staying in school and nvr pay back the loans; It can be done. ;-)

I hate scratch offs. I always get em for christmas. $5 worth. Like just give me 5 dollars!

I don't like playing a game that only has a 1/1000 chance to win $1. When I have gotten 1 dollar I don't even go to the store to redeem. Pisses me off.

I have a friend who buys a ticket for lottery every week. Then he day dreams for a day or two.

No point in it. Work hard, find profitable ventures, set money aside, build good credit. Don't waste time day dreaming. Make a plan and go for it.
