So I'm growing a bigger and bigger interest into this cactus and have learned much MUCH misinformation about how to keep it alive..
I just really need someone who has a great forum or sites where I can get my read on for noobs growing cacti !!!
I truly find it beautiful and obviously I would love to experience my first mescaline trip eating my very own peyote:twisted:..
I will be growing indoors so if you've got any info, shoot!
Has anyone bought some from vacouverseedbank ? That's where I'm planning on getting the seeds..

Thank you ! :eyesmoke:

I'm sure canndo and impman can give you grow tips for cacti..they both have posted a lot about sanpedro/peruvian torch...altho I'm fairly certain they know about outdoor prop more than indoor...seems very inefficient to grow cacti indoors unless you have a sunroom of sorts..

indoor....I think you should stop and do a little bit of math. FIgure out how many cents you pay per watt. then look at your last bill. Then determine how much electricity you will run on the life of the cactus..... this kind of math should not take you too long...once you get a number, post back ....I am thinking like 5 years of light may cost ...i dunno...low ball 4,800$? ...but I am high. so that could be wayyy off. lOL

would you spend 5,000$ on a few buttons/? or even half of that? or even a third? I would not... you can go buy 1000$ worth of Bitcoins and start buying mescaline. ...or take a road trip to California and pick up some San Pedro Cactus ...or Join the Native American Church ...im sure there is a small fee to join ....I mean that kind of electricity can go to a lot of different bad ass adventures ...seems silly

Well,if its able to be grown the same as pot,and you allready have a veg room,I guess then it would be feasable...idk..I'm afraid to even grow sanpedro here..winter is cold here, and I don't think I could have 20 cacti setting around the house all winter..(would be a kick ass xmas tree tho!!)

its feasible rory, i had a san pedro for about 4 or 5 years in ohio in my early 20's. got tons of cutting off it, it grew fairly well just never got very thick. until one year it was left outside for too long, and the frost turned it to mush.

Does't take real intense light. Tends to grow shaded by bushes. The laws regarding white people eating peyote vary state by state. You might be able to join the Peyote Way Church and grow legally.

I knew a guy in Topanga canyon, grew about 30 in his sun room, it freezes in the canyon once in a while, they grew for years next to the window. He wound up giving them to me, I cut them, dried them and then at the frantic behest of my first wife I flushed them down the toilet.

the only fun alkaloid in there is mescaline i should have said... IMO of course...lol I never heard of anyone extracting one of the other alkaloids in peyote but I am sure it happens

I had a friend a while back and he had a huge clay pot right by his front door with a large variety of different cacti..and a few peyote buttons as well..I never even seen em till he pointed em out..I never asked about growing em in the weather we get here..he lives further in a valley than I do!..sadly we've lost contact..

Old thread I know, but....

I've ordered from VSB before and I have only good things to say about them.

I'd like to know how your seeds are going since I threw some in with my last order as well. Geographically I'm at the same latitude as VSB's storefront and I've grown other cacti in a bright south window just fine.
That said, mine will be growing under lights along with my avocadoes and tomatoes.

FYI, here in Canada peyote is specifically excluded from the Controlled Substances Act even though mescaline itself is Schedule III.
17. Mescaline (3,4,5–trimethoxybenzeneethanamine) and any salt thereof, but not peyote (lophophora)

Yea I guess I'll contribute as well..

I grow all my cactus in the window, and outside during the growing season, but they could stay in the window year round. They don't need a ton of light, they'll just grow slower.

Left to right in picture is.. Bridgesii, San Pedro X Bridgesii, San Pedro, Peruvian Torch. Plus all the other plants mixed in.
