So I am in the process of opening up a dispensary in California and am looking for some advice/info from anyone here who has had any experience in this industry. One of the main things that I am looking to find out about is where to get the needed state paper-work to legally operate a dispensary. I have a business plan and about $50,000 (hopefully more if I can find investors but I am not holding my breath). What should I be expecting here? I am looking to be 100% complaint with prob 215 and SB 420 and 100% transparent. If you've got the time to spare and wouldn't mind helping me out you can send anything via PM or post here.

It would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am sure it has but when I was looking through the past pages I could only find info on growing for dispensaries or just growing related questions. I am looking for info about the actual storefront. I have a business plan/model that I think will revolutionize this industry but I am still in the studying stage. Like I said in the first post the biggest thing that I need to know is where/how I get the paper-work to open up a store-front dispensary legally. I know about the city paper work but info on state licenses and permits are being difficult for me to find. I would also like to know if my $50,000 budget is even possible (I dont care about difficult but if its even possible)

Goto the town hall or whatnpt of Tue place you wish to open the shop and ask them what is required. Not rocket science. Chances are that well, maybe they'll know.
Tried it, I am going to be opening up a dispensary is a city that currently has a negative stance on it. So before I contact them with my business model I want to make sure that I have all of the information. Plus like I said in my earlier post I already know what is required on the city level, but I cant find any info on state level paper-work.

I would suggest finding a good corporate lawyer to file initial paperwork depending on which type of dispensary you choose to open. If the lawyer is good he will be able to explain the differences between each type. I think that $50,000 if plenty to start with so long as you manage your money well. Initial paperwork filing costs around $3,000 - $5,000. There is lots of information online you just have to be creative in your searches. Hope this helps. -XQS

hope they help....you could also try the 420 college web site they have some classes that you can get that tell you everything you need to know about opening a despencery...but it may cost a little bit...but i do agree with xqshaun...you should get a good lawyer they will be able to explain what you need to do

I am a collective owner here in california, the first thing you need to do is GET INCORPORATED! you have to find yourself an attorney that specializes in setting corporations up. He will take care of all of the paperwork for you. you need to be a california mutual benefit non profit corporation. once you have set up your corporation with at least 3 corporate officers, you will need to open up an account with the board of equalization (franchise tax board) they will give you a sellers permit for medical marijuana once you show them your corporate paperwork or book. the next step is finding a city that is going to issue you a business license for what you do and a landlord that is ok with it. Then you begin stocking your shelves and start paying 8.75% sales tax to the state for every dollar of cannabis that you sell to your patients that sign up. GOOD LUCK

What if you incorporated as an Public Benefit Corporation in the hopes to receive grant money for research into the medical properties of Cannabis? Would we still be in compliance?
