Bagelthief..... The BMO products are great, you will not be disappointed. Liquid Karma (aka - leonardite) is good stuff, it serves a useful purpose - which is to slowly break down insoluble NPK / minerals in the soil and make those nutes available to Mary. I've used it, I like it, I just don't like the price.

To use the SPT properly - Mix it full strength, as per the label, and give each plant one quart per gallon of soil - up to one gallon per plant. If your plants are in ground - always give each one the full gallon the first time - regardless of plant size. Then wait three days, before adding anything else. This will give the SPT time to establish the tribe of micro-beasties (aka - good fungi & bacteria) that will break down insoluble minerals and NPK (a live replacement for LK - but with security options), plus kills off bad bacteria & fungi.

I would use the SPT mixed up full strength for the first month, every other week. I like to water one week (this is when I apply SPT) and feed the next week. I just repeat this cycle, and adjust as I go. This prevents the two most common mistakes made in growing - Overwatering & Overfeeding.

Use your bottled nuted mixed at half strength, for the first month. Unless, you notice any signs of pale leaves or yellowing.
.
Then slowly increase their strength. I would only apply the LK, once a month, during a feeding week. Used too often, LK will cause your soil to release nutrients too quickly - causing nute burn & leached out (dead) soil. LK is good, SPT is well Super.... But like drinking & driving - LK & SPT (mixed together) is not a good mix.

thank you both Seamaiden and OoOohSoOoOGreen for the excellent advise! i would definitely take your guys advise and use it anytime!! now i just have to try and figure out how many gallons my pots are....haha. i just grabbed what ever pots i had lying around the house...so i have 3 differnet sizes, and unfortunaly i dont know how many gallons any of them are. does anyone know of a mathmatical formula (like HxWxL) that can be used to figure this out?

hey no worries OhSo. its good that you replied so late, this thread was in need of a nice bump! this is the thread that originally got me so interested in SPT, so hopefully we will have a few more people convert to the wonders that organic gardening holds when they go through this thread. i second what deesbarretts said! i think BMO soil would kick foxfarms ass!!! it would be quite the bitch to get it shipped to cali though....

As far as, keeping a grow diary (pics). I have not posted pics I've taken in past grows (here) - mainly because of security concerns. I've always been a little paranoid, they could be traced back to an IP address (since RIU's server is in the USA).

In fact, I use a series of proxy servers and a (maintenance server - in a hidden lo-cal) to avoid revealing a true IP address. It would take some serious snooping to back track to me & I'm not worth it. Personal use growing only - never for commercial interests.
.
I only started using a digital camera last year. I usually take a few pics, hook the camera up to the TV or PC and enjoy a slide show. Afterwards, 99 % of the time, I delete them. I have a few pics burned onto a PC CD. I'll drag it out and post a few, if I can find it.

damn OhSo! those look gorgeous! man, you are so lucky to live where you can grow outdoors! i cant wait till i have enough money to buy a nice plot of land out in the country so i can grow outdoors...iv always lived in the nasty fuck hate ass bullshit dirty nasty nasty hate dirty nasty CITY! lol. as you can tell, i haven't enjoyed my stay...i really didnt have a choice where i lived when i was younger for obvious reasons, and now that iv moved out and got married, its still hard to move to the country b/c all the stupid jobs are here in the city! humph! iv always felt like i belonged in the country though, especially when i was around 14 and my grandfather took me on a trip to a 1500 acre quail ranch for a week. man that was the life. you get to shoot guns, drive dirt bikes, fish, hunt, what ever you please!!! the country is a place where a man can be a man, you know? not to mention its so much safer and more peaceful then the "sh(c)ity", and you dont have to deal with people that have their heads shoved so far up their ass they cant tell the difference between a fart or a burp.

yep. someday soon im going to get a nice house out in califonias last boonies, with AT LEAST 200 sq acres and a nice home on it to raise a good wholesome family the old fashioned way. my wife is a city girl too, but she is more hesitant about the country. she loves the city for some strange reason. i told her though, that if we dont have a house in the country, i would end up leaving her (of course thats an empty promise b/c i love my wife to death, but i put on a real good poker face, and i got the desired effect, lol). i just cait wait...

Thief of Bagels, somewhere I have written down the formula for calculating the volume of a cylindrical container. You have to know the radius, and how to use pi. I am best accomplished at eating pie, so only a little pi for me.

superthrive works great if you use it correctly. I use two drops for every three gallons which is just alittle under the drop-per-gallon recomendation.

Shallot, I cry! Shallot! Letteth me grabbeth mine book so great and read upon from it the knowledge held therein for thee, Thief of Bagels (better than beagles, but are they Kosher?).

You need the three measurements, and I need a calculator. You need to know the height and the radius (not the diameter, the radius, which is the measurement from the center of the cylinder to the edge, or.. half the diameter ), and that pi is 3.1416.

To calculate the volume of a cylinder, use the following formula:
pi multiplied by the cylinder's radius squared (r2) multiplied by the cylinder's height.

Converting to gallons:
Convert cubic feet to gallons by multiplying by 7.48051945
Convert cubic inches to gallons by multiplying by 0.00432900431

So, let's say we have a pot that is perfectly cylindrical (for ease of working numbers, which ain't my strong suit). 12"h x 8"w. That would give a radius of 4", k?
Radius squared (r2) is 16".
16" x pi (3.1416) x 12" = 603.1872"cu (cubic inches)
603.1872 x 0.004329 (this is close enough for me) = 2.61,, or just a bit over 2 1/2 gallons.

Whew! I think I need a treat after that. Mmm... yes, a bong hit will do nicely.

Now, I've emailed them, phoned & even faxed them asking one simple question " Does your product, contain anything derived from an animal ? A simple yes or no, would be fine ". They simply would not, did not anwser.

I have a young friend, who is a college agri-sciences student. They did some testing in the school lab using ST. They found the chemical structure of one of the componets to be very similar to testostrone from a steer ????

Again, I just wonder why they refuse to anwser a simple yes or no question ?

wow thats pretty disgusting! is there any information at all about the product? it does have a beefy smell

I have still had unbelievable results with superthrive and have no reason to switch! If you use only a drop per gallon or less you will be fine. There is no side by side proof that this "BMO Super Tonic" is any different than superthrive. Nonone should be turned away from somthing that works just because there is something similar for sale somwhere else. But we will prob never really know unless you did clone testing yourself.

Remember, I'm not selling anything here. I was just sharing some info on a good product. Others have tried it and like it too. Maybe others did not like it. To each is his/her own.

I know what's in Super Plant Tonic...... I don't eat mystery meat or use mystery products. I question authority and like to ask questions about products I use.

The fact that Super Thrive refuses to anwser even a yes or no question - just ensures they don't have my business. So, there is more ST for you, to use and enjoy. Please do not switch, that way, there will be more SPT for me.
