what ur looking at in the pic is a plant in a 6 gallon pale, and i put a sundrop soda can in their to help you gage the size of this pig. i didnt mean to let it get so big, it only vegged for like a month, lmao!!!

Wow - that's certainly larger than my plants at a similar age. It would be interesting to see pics from seed till now, like from week to week, with a description of your set-up. I'm sure many would like to follow your example!

thanks. i have pics i will try to post. week1 i had a 4 inch plant, week two i had a 10-12 incher. by the end of week 3, it was 18+ inches, and by the end of week 4, it was about 30 inches. i admit, its one of the faster grower plants ive seen, i have a similarly aged plant, only 30 inches now, while this one is 4 foot almost. its almost 6 weeks old, but, since ive been flower for a week, im getting a new top, everyother day. i have seen it grow as much as two inches in a single day, it was crazy. my settup:
6 gallon pot, my soil is 3 parts miracal grow tomato soil, and one part miracle grow peet moss. i didnt mix it all together, instead, i did layers, in my pale, with the peet moss in the center. i also use a wooden dowel and with it i keep 4 holes, all around the plant, that go str8 to the bottom, so air can get in their, like "plugging" your lawn. i "dowl it daily ", and if i pull my dowl out, and dirt stick to it, i know im a lil moist, i try to only water it every 3 days, 1 liter, and i also check the wieght, the whole bucket wieghs 14 lbs when i water it, 13 lbs when its thirsty, i dont have sophistiated instruments, lol, im doing it old school. i havnt used a ph meter either. for nutes i have been useing miracle grow for tomatoes, recently, i got nitro poisoning, from my nutes, so, i flushed it and drowned it with an epsom solution, it back on track now, healthy and growing.
for lights:
i have between 10-12 thousand lumens, in a 3 foot by 4 foot closet, with my "sun" being a 3000 lumen, 42 watt cfl, in a stainless shield, 4 inches above my top, around that about 2 inches from the top, i have 2 x 27 watt, warm cfls, and dangling around the plant, i have (1) 27 watter, and (2) 13 watt 800 lumen warm white cfls, hanging from sockets, i adjust them daily, to make sure they stay within 4 inches if folliage, but not touching, i push my limits, i actually, put them close enough to give me a LIL heat stress, but not severe. for maximum penetration. once my plant got over two feet, i installed a 6 lamp vanity light strip i took out of my bath room, its hanging above everything(about 1 foot above the plant), and in it, i have (6) 13w 800 lumen t-2 COOL white cfl's. wheher they help or not, im not sure, but, more lumens the better right???? lol. my closet is quite bright....lol.....
for ventillation, i use an oscillating fan. its hard to keep the temp below 80 degrees, but, i have managed.......with lil heat stress.............
thanks for the posts, been flowering for a week, im seeing "something", but not sure of the sex yet, anyone got a pic of a male preflower??? early in flowering???? anyways, let me know what u think, expescially you veteren growers.....

some times tall plants suck....
my first grow i had a five footer...

the reason being is light doesnt reach the lower buds....
and the plants take longer to mature.... sometimes....
unlesss you have tons of lights....

yeah thanks. i may have to go HID, the last few weeks. im having problems posting pics, so yall just have to click on my avatar and check my album, im uploading now. also, check my thread regarding electrical questions, im answering as many as i can

HPS is outdated and has been for a few years. To claim that it rules is simply false.

metal halides I THINK are best, i have no references tho. im trying with Cfl's for the first time. im an outside grower from the montreal area, living in NC, so well see........eh? good luck.

Good eye, it is a Alaska/Yukon moose - just not mine. However I have taken 7 to date but just no monsters like that one.
As for lighting, the general consensus among professionals and amateurs alike is Metal Halide during veg period and High Pressure Sodium for flower. It is possible that there is new research showing another type is better - thats why I was asking the question to Rantyr.
You live in NC huh? Careful, I've got a buddy in that neck of the woods & he tells me it is not a weed friendly state so take care.
