Bob, you need to blog this.
I'm going to grab this and post it.
Everybody should grab it and post it.
This could go a long way in healing a lot of vets.

Please feel free, It has been floating around for years. i am not sure if that is the original author or nor. I have seen it on several sites mostly military. It has helped me many times when I am down and out. With all our guys and gals coming back, I think we need to let them knwo we understand how they feel. Once one has made that ultimate choice it alters your outlook forever.

I think your post means you feel you need to talk to people about this still, but aren't getting it out enough and it boils over destroying your life still to this day.

Not preaching to you or pretending to know where you come from, but maybe you should look into joining a support group with all the younger veterans coming from Iraq and Afghanistan or if there isn't one in your area, creating one yourself. Your experiences and maturity and how you deal with it could greatly help the younger generation now facing the same issues and in helping others you will probably find it helps youself.

I have no idea how PTSD works or how to cure it, I'm merely suggesting something that might help you and others, even if it does nothing to stop the symptoms of PTSD maybe it would just give you something to feel good about by helping others and give you an outlet better than posting on here.

I hope you get support and counseling from the VA or whatever.

90% of all people suffering with PTSD wont go and talk about it ,it just makes it worse!!From !987 to 1992 i was in some of the worst shitholes on earth.Every night and every day i go back!!The Va is so fucked up and there are thousands more coming back.84 vets commit suicide every day.

I disagree with some of this. The brothers part. How the fuck can you say not to get close to the people that stepped side by side with u into something you could never walk away from again? Ive been told by many new and old vets that your "brothers" are the only people you have over there and they are the people you would die for. They are your brothers, dead or alive. Of coarse i haven't been through what you have but your mindset about not getting close to them because they are liability is a betrayal. Nam was a horrible war no doubt about it. But your brothers are the only thing that kept you alive. When you say a liability it sounds like you are talking about some kind of pet dog or cat. I just hope you rethink what you thought about of your brothers.

I came home and created a cozy cell for myself and have been mostly removed from society for a long time. I survived and now I've imprisoned myself. Doesn't seem too bad, but there is no "living" here.

first off id like to say thank you for fightin for our country dude really. i cant begin to imagine how its like in war nor can i imagine not gettin close to the people you're trustin your life with. i doubt i could do that as much as i tried. its a good thing you've accepted your actions and the loss of your friends. to me the killin i dont think would affect how i act but seein people i know and care about die around me would rattle me alot.
