LIVE VS STERILE in hydro

I run continuous recirculating top feed drip in hydroton and im wondering if i tried using a live res if any of the microbes would even be able colonize and benefit? ive read bennies work best in coco but im wondering if theres benefit to using them with hydroton given the fact that i run continuous drip so its almost like dwc/nft hybrid....or if i should just dose with chlorine? i use slf100 now which works well but i was thinking of trying maybe elite91 roots or xtreme gardening mycos. I use vegbloom nutrients by the way
