Little LED grow experiment

Hey guys! Boy oh boy am I EXCITED!

My second automatic is just GORGEOUS! I was a bit disappointed in the LEDs but the major part of the issue here was myself it seems. They are performing amazingly on my new girl.

If you were to go back and look at older pictures of Martha when she was at around the same age, you'll see that this one ain't fucking around.

So here she is, at 46 days old, 22 days since the first pistil appeared.

EDIT:

Ah yes, I'm starting to see the first creamy white trichomes on Martha. She is now 86 days old, flowering for 60 days now. Hopefully she'll be ready to go next week or so, I am running out of space!

Also, the Blue Rhino I have, same age as Martha, is looking good. She fully stepped out of her coma, showed sex and she's ready to be cloned and planted outdoors. Not sure if this thing is going to survive the messed up weather we've been having here these past years but we'll see.

Hey guys, quick update on my second Jock Horror.

She's beautiful but looking a little bit sickly. She's yellowing from the bottom moving up but all leaves are very pale. I've noticed the bottom leaves getting yellower pretty much as soon as she started flowering. Last week I've fed her bloom nutes for the first time and it seems it may have made matters worse. I think I've given her too much Bio-Bud from the General Organics line. Some of the larger bottom leaves had turned completely yellowish-white and had started to die so I just pulled them off a few minutes ago. I'm not too sure what to do, I'm going to check the pH of my soil later tonight and see if that's out of whack.

I've also noticed that a cherry kush bagseed I had planted is exhibiting signs of a mosaic virus infection so I'm a bit worried about that as well.

I'm going to be flushing Martha tonight and harvest her as soon as possible because it seems she just doesn't want to mature and I need the space. All trichomes are white and I've seen one or 2 over the entire plant that had turned amber.

EDIT:

After checking the pH of the soil, well, it was around 8. My water is at around 7.8 now somehow so I've pH'd it down with some lemon juice to around 7.2 and flushed the soil of both Martha and my affectionately named JH2e. I hope I didn't hurt them by doing this but I think I did good, time will tell. I'll lower it some more later in the week if this helped.

Hey guys.

I've chopped down Martha tonight. I've turned my old grow box into a drying box and hung her in there. She was at day 95 I believe. It seems she could've matured a bit more but she had just stalled. I'll update on her once she's dried, trimmed and weighed.

Well, Martha is now dried up. Airy as she was, she dried up pretty fast, even with the high humidity here lately.

She really exceeded my expectations. I got 24 grams out of it and it is honestly some of the best weed I've ever smoked. The taste and smell aren't quite there yet but it's actually pretty good already. I've only smoked a little bit because I do want it to cure properly but everytime I've smoked it I've stayed really high for over 3-4 hours with no comedown whatsoever as you'd get with those heavy indica strains. It's a heady high and that's it, it's completely missing the body stoned feeling which I am absolutely thrilled about. This is what I wanted and it is what I got.

Unfortunately I doubt that the next one will be the same. It's a completely different phenotype and as you guys have probably seen it seems to be indica dominant, at least by the bud formation. The buds on that thing are completely rock solid, I don't think I've ever touched fresh buds that were this hard in my life, ever. A friend of mine who has been growing for years mentioned the same thing to me a few days ago. Then again, we'd never grow anything advertised as indica dominant, that may be why.

I'll update with pictures of JH2e tomorrow if I can. She's looking gorgeous although some leaves are still looking a sickly shade of green. All the leaves around the buds are completely fine, it's just the bottom of the plant that is affected and I'm pretty sure now it's normal. I was just worried because it started so early in flowering but I guess that's just how these autos roll. The leaves that are sticking out of the buds are turning purple which makes her look even better.

The top cola is so compacted that it seems it can't get any hard and is starting to grow outside of itself. It's starting to look like a deformed monster bud.

I think this is it for now!

Guys, guys guys guys. Holy shit guys. JH2e now literally smells of blueberries, on top of turning purple.

Martha smells like oranges, every day it spends in this curing jar is just making it smell sweeter and sweeter. It used to smell very zesty but now it's just a sweet sweet orange smell. But, BLUEBERRIES! Dear god guys, I'm almost creaming my pants. I'm going to go take a few pictures for you guys as I am writing this.

Ok, I got the pics!

I believe she is 65 days old now.

Ah yes, almost forgot! Thanks for the rep Chronikool!

Dude, it's pretty amazing the production you're getting out of your rig. Great work! So what's the grand total on all these lights you're running now? I think it's time for a recap here :).

Thank you!

The whole thing, including the exhaust fan, should be around 250W.

The panels are rated at 18W each but I highly doubt that's what they draw. I wish I had a killawatt. Let's say they're at 15W so that's 150W right there. Plus the Fluos, two tubes rated at around 40W each, again, no idea what they actually draw. Finally I believe the duct booster fan I am using is rated at 30W.

So let's say 260W in total. 230W for the lighting alone. I'm growing one last automatic, she's looking very nice already and she's shown sex earlier than the 2 others I grew. She's only about 2 inches tall and she's showing sex. She's also growing faster than the other two. I think this one is going to be my best yet. I think I've figured out how to feed these girls properly. I thought they were really tricky to please but I think they just really don't like nutes all that much.

As I mentioned earlier, this is my last auto for a bit. I haven't talked about the Blue Rhino I started at the same time I did my first Auto JH. She's still alive, she's doing extremely well. She's about 3 feet tall now but I've topped her a while back and I'm bending her down in order to get a huge flat canopy, so she doesn't look that tall for now. She was extremely root bound by the time I transplanted her into a larger pot. I had to rip that root ball appart but she took it like a champ, she didn't slow down at all. On the contrary she started growing like crazy right away.

I originally was thinking of doing a SOG or SCROG with clones from her but I think I'm just going to clear out the grow room and then change the layout of the lights so that I can aim all of them at a single plant and I'll switch it to flowering. I'll be using the Fluo tubes vertically and I'll surround the rest of the plant with LED panels.

Right now the room is full of tomatoes, peppers and I've even got a Hosta in there, so I think I could do much more with those 230W of light. I'm transplanting everything in my garden tomorrow (except for the Hosta lol) though so I'll have plenty of room for (illegal(for some)) activities again soon.

I'll try to update with some pictures of the new Jock Horror girl and Blue Rhino tomorrow.
