I have been using "surface area cm^2" as equalling the square centimeters for every inch of heatsink....
I was doing the same thing for a while. since in supras chart at the top of each profile it says : "in or cm - in"

every calculation I did, i was like " christ, thats a f*cking huge heatsink" lol

Bonjour
Where did you find it at this price?!?
And mixing metric and imperial system is always a bit confusing!
I know that, trust me on this one...I have to convert everything since I am on riu...inch foot galon oz!in, mm,cm,M, ml,cl,L, so when you are too stone it become a bit fuzzy (hazy!)
Have a great day ★

That price is through kingbrite. & yes I bet it's a challenge even when not stoned :)

Thanks!

I'm going with 3 - 36" x 4.9" heat sinks. If my calculations are correct, I should have just under 200w of passive cooling per 36" length. Was going to pick up from HSusa but was about $20 shipped...I'll spend more on gas so shipping wins.

Found some sturdy angle aluminum lengths @ Home Depot & will tie all together using 2 pieces on opposite sides. Going to keep the 3x2x3 COB pattern for now & evaluate for any future design changes.

Does anyone have a suggestion on where to order connector kits (wires/plugs) for the Ideal holders 50-2303CR? Also, the drivers have a dimmer option...looks like I need to supply the dimmer...suggestions?

Sorry, y'all, hate to disappoint, but your method is incorrect. The numbers I listed are the correct #'s minus rounding off....just want to end the confusion :peace:

@CanadianONE can maybe verify this for me.... with their spiffy sheet!...

I come out to roughly 76 watts of passive cooling for 36" of 4.9" heatsink....and that is Supra's recommendation of 110.cm^2/watt for passive cooling....:peace:

76.856 watts to be exact @ 110cm but my spreadsheet is calculated at 120cm/2 (recommended by Supra last time we talked) @ 120cm its 70.451 watts.
@Abiqua maybe he is referring to active cooling 36" of 4.9 profile at 120cm/2 is good for 211.354 watts actively cooled.

@CanadianONE

read page one, after a moment of weakness and being incorrectly "corrected" and by two members I really enjoy no less, I just wanted to clarify to @Limosnero [It is not per cm^2/cm fyi]

-200 watts of cooling would be with ACTIVE cooling only... on 36" of 4.9, so maybe that was a typo, my bad if so.....eairlier, incorrect calculation were given for 200 watts of passive cooling, I want to make that CLEAR!

Hmmm....could someone please layout the correct formula? I was calculating that for passive cooling.

234.78 x 91.44 = 21468.2832/110 = 195.17
