I have been looking at ferts and soils that are designed for other flowers that require a similar pH level, Such as African Violet Soil which has a pH right in the perfect range for Cannabis. What can I add to it, so that I do not have to fertlizer for the whole grow? I am thinking along the lines of composted cow manure, Vermiculite, Oyster Shell, and Azomite in the soil before planting. It will be in an Indoor Grow tent, 2x2 ft with a 2023 version Mars Hydro TS 1000 150watt LED light. Basically, I want to build the soil in such a way that Ill I have to do is water it, Flip the light time when its ready, and wait for harvest.


My other Option would be Cheaper Garden Fertilizers, I honestly can not afford the super High end expensive ferilizers.

This will be my first grow. Any suggestions?

My suggestion is prepare yourself ,temper your expectations, because it’s harder than it looks. Maybe try a few runs with some mostly ready to go soils like fox farm or build-a-soil to get your feet wet. If that doesn’t sound good to you, there are recipes(on this site) that you could follow and save yourself a bit of trial and errors.

I am doing my first couple grows with Auto flowering strains if that helps at all, once I am comfortable with growing and have a few grows under my belt i do plan on switching to photo period plants.

Well you’re not the first person that doesn’t want to fertilize or worry about a grow. My suggestion is to give it a go, see what happens, then go to the dispensary and buy your weed. If you decide to grow welcome to the club and get ready to get your hands dirty. It’s all part of the fun. Hope you stay and join us, but if it were that easy this place wouldn’t exist.

I wouldn’t say auto’s are easier really. Quicker sometimes. But u can take a photo and do a short vegative cycle and finish fast also. The faster finishes just mean you need less food in your soil.

I get that its not gonna be easy, more of a Can it be done? Like is it possible to build a soil right so that you dont have to use 10 differnt expensive fertlizers?

It is a question often asked on here, the search button is your friend. Everyone is after the easy way. You are correct, you don’t need all the bs expensive fertilizers. Looks at Jacks, Masterblend and such for salts, or read more for organics, but like any other hobby it takes some learning, there’s not one environment and one formula that works for every strain or grower.

Check out build a soil....
You still have to feed though.
If it was as easy as set it and forget it, everyone would grow weed.
Its definitely a journey and you have to be prepared.

Added Both of them to my cart. How would you use them with a drip irrigation system? I am setting up an Auto Watering system, because with ADHD and Fibro Fog from Fibromyalagia, I tend to forget things A LOT, like I would seriously forget to water my plants with them sitting right in my bedroom when I was growing cooking herbs indoors.

I haven't run automation yet, but general consensus seems to be that Mega Crop leaves a little sediment that could clog drip emitters. I used it in top-feed DWC buckets and it would clog up the small holes in the drip rings every week or two.

I would stick with soil for a first grow, especially if you’re looking to limit daily commitments. Look at threads by @Budzbuddha . Simplest way to avoid needing lots of nutes is to buy a pre-amended soil (fox farm, etc) and then add some dry amendments along the way, stuff such as Dr. Earth. Cheap and effective. Keep it simple.

Yeah sips are very low maintenance. When i grew guerrilla style indoors, sips were a godsend because i only needed to add water once a week, and very often that’s all i’d get to see of my plants. i still setup a quick sip if i have to go out of town for more than a couple days
