lights

I recently upgraded from four 4 ft. fluorescents to two 175 watt metal halogen fixtures. I realize these lights are much more powerful and am wondering if it would be beneficial at all if I left the fluorescents, possibly for side lighting. I am not sure if they would even make a difference now.

The more light the better. If you have the space and the budget to run them go for it.

The budget to run them? How much should I expect my electric bill to jump from running two 175 watt metal Halide lights on an 18/6 schedule?

Haha, had me worried for a second. Today was the first day under the new lights and they grew more than the first eight days of their life under the flouros. I'm pretty pumped up. Thanks for the advice..

Actually I work at an electrical company and found them while looking for material in the shop. I had heard of metal halide being good for growing on this site. So I discreetly asked my boss and made a really good deal because he had no need for them. How much they sell for from the store? Sorry, I have no clue. I do know the bulbs cost me $30 a piece though.
