lights & the law

Hey guys i'm just wondering whats up with more people not growing using LED & CFL. CFL I can understand with the light output, but LED i can't besides the price. Seeing as the law can fly overhead and look for hotspots within houses/other places or look on an electricity bill, LED is the best there is. It doesn't get hot and doesn't use too much energy(depending on the watts) regardless is still more effiecient tan HPS. maybe this is why every time i see cops or some other show with a major marijuana bust, they're not using filter or using hot HPS lights...just reminds me of the stupid criminals that don't wear mask or gloves when they commit crimes. Sorry, just a quick little rant :blsmoke:

always find a way, this is why im more than a pot head. i love all plants if i could dig up my floor and put in a sun roof that would be my living room. just cool the air and make sure your coving your heat sig and you shouldnt hav a problem. dude most space heaters are at 1200-1500 watts for some small POS like a foot high and not even that across. it made more sense to heat with 600-1000 hps anyway

there's a reason why people use HPS over LED. cause it's puts out better product.

and I approve of this message......but like to mix it up.
plus if you haven't been under a rock for awhile you might know a good portion of us here are legal as per our state laws , you did know that was part of the policy you agreed to when signing up here right??

B/C LED's and CFL's do NOT give off sufficient ultraviolet lighting to properly develop terpenes(essential oils)during flowering...that's why HPS is still king.

oh there's still plenty of that with led. I did one grow in a 4by4 tent with about 660 actual watts of led. the buds did turn out light and airy but made a nice oil.

They turned out light due to less vegetative growth and less cannabinoids, both of which are maximized via ultraviolet. Yet, I'll take a guess and state LED's are definitely a step up from CFL's.

I supplement with real sun via non-UV block windows year-round, which blows away any HPS...even in the dead of winter when sun angle is at it's lowest point.

Edit: Except in Alaska and such where there is no sun this time of year.

I'll still have to disagree.

I do believe your misinformed here man, they cant really see the hot spots from the lights they usually only see heat sigs from people exausting thier air cooled hood and they put 2 and 2 together ehn its coming out a bedroom window.

that shot is directly under the led panel, dunno if it has uv diodes or not but the plant doesn't seem to care. I'm pretty sure the hortilux hps doesn't put out much uv either, especially through the glass of the reflector. however in a few days I'll be taking the glass out and putting the 10000k sunpulse in to finish, getting a bit off topic.

That's OK, we're not here to agree on everything...would be rather boring if we did so.

See my sig though, b/c there isn't a light on the planet that does what nature intended.
right on. well put. the first part anyway.
but I'm not seeing a sig :/
