can a MH bulb of the same wattage be used in an HPS system?

yes i do it all the time. 2 years now,1000wtt

is this true.... i thot only a mh bulb will work in an hps ballast not vice versa?? I have a 400w mh ballast w/bulb and would like to try a 400w hps in the mh ballast will this work?????????

All the info I have read says that you need a conversion bulb to do this. Either that, or a switchable ballast.

What nocturn3 said - you need either a conversion bulb or a ballast that was built to handle both.

I believe you need to have a switchable ballast...or get a conversion bulb.

see its like this take it or not cuz i realy dont care what you all do. spend all that money on shit you already have . iv been running my 1000wtt mh bulb in my hps ballast for 2 years now. its just a ballast for god sakes, what the hell is your problem.if you have not done this yet, then shut the fuck up and try it befor you nock someone that is doing it this way aas of today.
