Lighting questions for seedlings

My beans are just beginning to pop open, only one has grew out of the hole in the rr, and it's onlyabout a 1/4 inch out. I can see another 10 or so still inside the rr hole. I have a 1000 watt HID I'm still in the process of dialing in the temps. My room is in a shed so I'm just using the light for heat, and have a window ac for cooling the room. My question is about supplying my little ones light for the germination period. I bought a t-8 2' 2tube fixture with two 17 watt bulbs, each bulb is ratied at 3500K with 1325 lumens apeice. Do u guys think this is sufficient for right now. I'm strapped for cash and the t8 fixture was all i could afford as of now. As i see it I have 3 choices:1.window sill with southern exposure
2. stick them under the 1000watt MH bulb (i do have a dimmable ballast and have considered setting it at 75% and setting the little ones under it, but i'm afraid it may effect my bulb if i use a 1000watt mh bulb at 750watts, anyone with any experience with this?)
3. leave them in the closet with my el cheapo t8 fixture
What would u guys do with these options?

leave them in closet with t8. seedlings dont need much light at all they have to develop the root system first. After they have a good root system just put em under the 1000w and feed them, they will GROW!!!!!

Fore sure I know homies that had to use a two bulb shop light with a aquarium bulb & daylight bulb to get by. The T8 should be plenty for those

Seedlings love to root under Florescent light. I would let them root for at least 2-3 weeks until feeding, feed/MH for a week, then toss 'em under the big lamp.

Acceptable temps for veg/seedlings 75-80F --- Humidity - 60-70%

For Bloom - 72-76F --Humidity 30%-50%

  • I've got FFOF soil so i wasnt planning on feeding for a few weeks (not in FFOF now, just the rr's). Are u saying that i should just let them stay under a florescent for 2-3 weeks? I'm using a cheap lowes fixture with with 2 2' bulbs at 17watts and 1325 lumens ,3500k a peice. You think that light will work for 2-3 weeks? and if so how close should i get it to the plants? The seedling are in a tray with a dome on it, in rr's. I should have a little more money to put into the light in the next day or so. What is the best light for seedling. I assume it is a t5 from the reading i've done, but what wattage/K rating and etc should i be looking for? Thanks for the info Pinworm.
