Hi all. In process of buying a tent but I want to ensure the right light mix. Currently working with (1) 150 HPS, (1) 400w MH and (1) 400 HPS...I'm wanting to upgrade to 600w but I don't want to waste what I have. Any ideas on a small tent setup using this many smaller lights? Or should I ditch for the 600? I would like to support 6-8 plants at a time. I haven't bought the tent yet but I'm getting close to needing it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. To this point I've only done closet grows. While the temps were controllable I feel my yield would've been better if I had a more controlled environment with dedicated air intake and exhaust. Also the significant other is tired of me hoarding the room. I'm really worried about heat with 2 400s because I'm thinking about using both for veg and getting a 600 for flower.

I say dump your 150w HPS, replace it with a $70-$90 4bar T5HO 2' light.... (I got one on Amazon for 44bux, was perfect timing, went to 84 the next morning) practically no heat, n great for clones, seedlings, n small vegging plants.
Im a huge 600 fan, perfect balance of light n heat, sure a 1000w gives great nugs, but we dont all have that kinda space or cooling setup right
Like butsack says, Id run 400mh for vegging, 600 for flower. If u got the space power n heat, run the 400 to veg, and a 400+600 to flower....

So you want to veg 6 to 8 plants to the size of what exactly ?
I wouldn't bother running the 400mh during flower honestly you`d get better results adding more red light not adding more blue hps have lots of orange and far red but they can lack red a bit the up side is you don`t have to be as heavy with the cal mag
Also remember to keep a track on how much use your bulbs have had

I don't dispute that at all, but I'm under the assumption that the two 40W T12's I'm using aren't better than the 150HPS in terms of supporting plant growth. Is that a safe assumption? I'm about 3 weeks in from seed, my thought process was to keep them on the HPS for a week until the tent shows up. Then throw them under the 400MH for another month or two. Then flower with the 600 setup.
Thanks for that. I'm not using anything right now. About to start using bio-root from Hydroponics but I'm nutrient phobic right now. I've burned my last two grows based on talking to you guys, so this time I'm going to let them tell me what they want...I was planning on adding cal mag to Happy Frog soil...or no cal mag and running on Ocean Forest soil. I'm really looking to start topping this grow so if I can get 5-6 girls out of the 8 I've got going hopefully the 600 will support it.

Veg under the 400mh and flower with the 600hps if you need more light get a 2nd 600 hps or a 300 to 600 w led panel
6 to 8 plants under 1 600w hps your still going to want to use 20 to 40L pots to get the most out of them or you could grow 10 to 16 plants in smaller pots, taking some cuttings or starting some new seeds will be easy once your tent is going

Not sure on the setup, I was going to go for a package deal to get everything. Whatever fans came with it...I just wanted to give them dedicated circulation which I haven't done since I've started. Fan in the room but nothing else. I've been using 2-3 gallon pots due to space. 9 under a 400mh with limited yield but they grew. So if I can get 5 healthy I'll eventually need two tents if I keep a mom. I need a mom because the starting and stopping is what's killing me right now and a dedicated environment would help in that regard.
Thanks. So the T12 is better than the 150W for right now? I would've assumed the "stronger" light to be better although maybe not the ideal spectrum. As soon as I get the tent they'll see the MH. I've just never vegged under a T12 longer than 2 weeks so I was getting nervous due to my piss poor planning.

get a good fan and a good filter that is if you think someone may want to take your weed away if they smell it
600 hps ? your going to want a 5" to 10" fan a good one anything from 500cmh to 2000cmh depending on how hot it is and how far your running the duct
I`ve got me a monster 10" fan on the way but its a nice box fan my old turbo 8" and filter will have to go off on another project
