Just curious...what would be the MINIMUM amount of light (cfl) needed to produce buds?
Using 1 GIRL SCOUT COOOKIES seed in an Aerogarden

Yes, they take their own bulbs. The unit I have comes with a cfl bulb that puts out only 1450 lumens. But, I have 2, should I use BOTH from the start?

use both on them. that would atleast give ya close to 3000 lumens. keep them close to your clant. like 2 inches away. just so you know... when they go into flower cycle they will get pretty tall so you might want to LST them.

K, I had ANOTHER cfl in the cupboard (soft white 1600 lumens) so I tossed that in there to.
As far as the distance, I cant really controle that right now because the light only goes down so far. However, The side lights I can controle and will get those as close to 2 in away as possible.
And yes, I plan to TOP and LST.
thanks.

I put a fan on it today (oscilatting on low) and it flopped over so I turned fan off and after an hour or so it perked back up. Need to find a weaker fan

no problem. its good for now.... wait for it to grow some leaves and stock will be able to take some fan action. looks like youll need to get it planted deeper. can you plant them deeper in aerogardens?

No, you just put a seed in a pod and put the pod in the unit, hehe, kinda like "growing for dummies." They're ment to be used for basil, thyme, peppers, etc.
I had the same problem with stretching a bit last time but I added the fan and tied it up loosley and the stem bulked up nicely.
It went well untill it turned male.

Maybe it's just me but the idea of trying to grow under 3000 lumens is quite funny. I can see it working as a kind of school science experiment but only as a bit of fun to prove it can be done. You would be better off on a sunny windowsill!
I am currently doing a micro grow using a 250w hps putting out 30,000 lumens and consider that a bit of a laugh and don't expect any serious yield.
Still, if you must, aim to lst a plant, and flower asap. You won't want the plant to end up up more than 8-10 inches across.
